Got a call from dealer, had to switch colors!!!

I got the call...and if it means getting my car quicker..I will switch colors..there are 3 colors I think look killer on this car..CGM, RJT and IBM.. I am going to see what this weeks constraints look like and If CGM has not yet been cleared for launch..I will make the switch to RJT...and if the factory is now doing the stripes I may throw cyber gray rally stripes on it...(or maybe IBM with CGM stripes)...I'm soo torn..Dammit Lease is up on Silverado April 1st...so , I will be ok with my decision.

I think it's a matter of some dealers jumping the gun on this one. Currently, it *looks* like CGM will be delayed via constraint but since production doesn't start for over a month it's possible that it could be ready in time.

Yes but here is the problem....my dealer gets an SS allocated for the March build...system says he can't get it in CGM...he needs to put his order in for that SS...do I take it with another color or wait for CGM?...

they already know if CGM or ABl or anything else wont be ready at launch do not fool yourselves. If dealers can't order the CGM it wont be there

I don't know about that. We've had dealers 'discover' that you can have a blue SS this month when that option has been availiable for quite awhile. I am gonna chalk this one up to another case of dealer misinformation syndrome until further notice

I seriously would have left it as it was. Constraints are updated every Thursday and if you was in the 1st consensus your order has to be placed before then. It's very possible that the constraints will change between now and March 13th and CGM will be available. It not before then it is also very likely that it would be made available in the middle of the March build.

I understand that too....but you have a source on here posting the consensus for our Own eyes to view...and it says CGM "awaiting Validation"...the question is...how long is this wait going to be?? I don't know...who does?...I'm not waiting..if my dealer has to jump to get my SS here in April...he now knows to change the color. if he can wait it out he will. I ordered early to get it early.

More power to you guys if you want to change your colors to get it soon. I live in Canada so if there was some sort of delay putting me into getting this car any later than August, I will probably cancel and re-order for Summer 2010, seeing as our summer is like 5 months. I am #1 at my dealer, but I can wait if I have to. I have already waited like 7 years so what's 1 more? LOL

I guess those of us who orderd CGM will get our ABL, since we will have to wait forever to get our cars...

Who knows, maybe we will be the only ones who get HUD and full length stripes, NAV... will probably even be a Z-28 vert, all this assuming that GM doesn't go bankrupt, or my dealer doesn't go under... water, with global warming and all. Am I forgetting anything?

Just to pass this on....
I spoke to my dealer here in San Antonio last week. They told me they are having a call from GM on February 12 wherein GM will give them their census - how many Camaros and of what type ordered and when they will receive after production starts. They have 15 allocated - i am number 7 (Black/Black 2SS/RS). The order clerk told me that she expects they will receive at a minimum 1 per week when deliveries begin. So she said at a minimum I will have mine in the 7th week. She has been the order clerk for this Checy dealer for over 20 years so I tend to belive her.
February 12 seems to be some magic date to lock in orders and receive info as to when each car will be approximately delivered. Is this correct? The dealer told me they will call me as soon as they receive the info on my car. BTW - they have 2 more allocated Camaros unordered (at least as of last week).

I don't think any dealer can plan on getting one car per week. With over 3400 dealers, that would require 3400 cars being produced per week. So even if they worked two shifts 7 days a week (doubtful due to overtime costs) they would have to produce over 240 cars per shift. And what are they producing now....something like 6 per day? I know these figures are not accurate, but it gives you a ballpark figure. I believe it was previously posted that the current run of sold cars plus the one mandatory V6 car per dealer will be in the 14,000 range and they will not be done with that run until september. To meet that figure they would have to product 500 per week. Look at how much fun you can have with numbers!

Its a safer bet to say that most of us will spend half of the summer without our new toy until they ramp up production rates and add a second shift. Yea..I know...just more idle speculation on the fire. But we're getting bored.
