Dealer told me to put 10w30 oil in my V6

Checked the owners manual and it says 5w30

I called them to ask what brand they put in last time I brought it because Im running really low. The lady said 10w30, so is the manual wrong or did they almost make me ruin my car?

some people change between 5w and 10w between winter and summer. You won't ruin your car. Just make sure you drain it out as much as possible before changing to different weights.

Well the lady said 10w30 but why would they put that in when the manual says 5w? I dont wanna pour the 5w I just bought in and mix it with 10w.

Either is fine, 5w is used to squeeze every mpg out...for ratings; 10w I feel is better against engine wear.

...but then there's the theory the lighter oil gets to the surfaces quicker during start up, to help reduce startup wear...but wait, the heavier oil doesn't drain off the cylinder walls as quick, so that helps...but that's a whole nuther topic...

I would not run the 5w if you have hot summer seasons.

It's 5. You tell them they're wrong and to make it right. They need to drain that oil and put in 5w30.

If they didn't know what oil to put it they probably didn't know how much either. Probably low because they didn't fill it!

Every engine uses oil. Your level may not change but thats because of the added containment such as water from condensation. The v6 does use more than most engines, likely because it spends a large amount of time at high RPM. I tend to agree 10w is ok for summer but you would want thinner oil in the winter.
