turtle wax

hey guys, i just bought some "Turtle wax synthetic liquid polish": Link to the Product

Just making sure before i apply, that it wont ruin my stripes.

It says on the back that it contains petroleum distillates, but also says that its ok on vinyl. So basically I am wondering if its OK to use on my matte black stripes, as well as the rest of the paint for that matter. Thanks!

Youre good to go on stripes. Many people use that on their gloss stripes. Wouldn't use anything on matte stripes though.

You're good to go on the matte black stripes.

Worked just fine on mine.

It should help extend the life of your stripes, it has UV protection in the polish. I've been using it for over a year. I'm happy with the results.

Now this may just be, and I am not knocking on the OP or anyone else that likes this product, but isn't turtle wax supposed to be some of the worst wax's you can buy?

Lets just say that a good number of people are generally less than pleased with it, but that doesn't mean it 'the worst'. IMO there are better OTC options, and MUCH better options *cough* adams *cough* out there

My sticking point with TW of late has been the blatant misrepresentations of what their products are and what they do. The have glazes called "polish", polishes called "clay", waxes called "polish", polishes that give "protection" and all manner of other things that just confuse people or falsely identify what the product is used for.

There are certain things that a product does that makes it what it is:

Polishes correct finishes.
Waxes/sealants protect finishes.
Clay is not a liquid.

Semantics really, but this industry is already full of confusion for most consumers... misnomers just make matters worse.

I use the ice synth and I can attest it does a good job, I use a sealant in the winter on them and the ice every detail during the summer months

i use the turtle wax ice because you can use it on plastic, rubber and vinyl.very easy to apply and remove.it leaves no white film on your car.i am sure it is not the best polish out there,i am just lazy.won my share of awards last year at the car shows.

Turtle Ice has cut the time I need to cover my car by over 75%....I used to spend hours with high end (expensive) stuff. I can say with a clay bar 2x per year and 2 coats of turtle Ice the water still beads and rolls off after 3 months.

If you have the time and find it therapeutic by all means spend as much time pampering your baby as you need. For me, I've found what works for my available time and life constraints.

PS - Still Permagrining after 6 months!

You're absolutely right, it is one of the worst you can buy. But it is also one of the few that is ok to use on stripes. Most people just use it on the stripe area, then use a better quality product on the rest of the car.
