2SS ordered Oct 26 - was number 8 in line - won't see mine till Sept

Just got off the phone with my dealer, based on initial consensus allocation numbers, I won't be seeing my camaro till Aug or Sept apparently.
I was number 8 in line at the largest dealer in my area and the only one promising MSRP - bummed.....

Number 8 out of what? If you're near the end of the list then yes that's about right.

The dealer is based in Irvine, CA - a very large area, they sell the most Chevy's in the area. I was number 8 - as in the first 8 to pre-order and was supposed to make the intial allocation. The dealer claimed they had 8 initial pre-orders that they could sell in the first wave, now it appears I may not even make the four or fifth wave.

Don't take your dealer's word as gospel. They don't know much more than us at this point.

Don't feel bad. I think I'm number 17 out of 25 and the dealer only got 1 for feb consensus. Unless they kick up the numbers for next month I will be looking to get mine around the same time. It will suck seeing everyone else on the board and streets get theirs but we will be able to make last minute changes to our orders according to the likes and dislikes of others.

We understood this but you didn't answer our question. Number 8 out of how many? 10? 15? What was the dealers total allocation?

As already mentioned, do not believe what a dealer tells you in regards to when you will get your car they do not know this. If you can find a dealer that can tell you this info without a doubt, you better ask him for next week's winning lotto numbers too.

Sounds he is saying he is #8 out of a total of 8 allocations, if that is the case I think his dealer is being straight! Maybe when his dealer said first wave he meant the pre-order allocations as a whole, rather than the first consensus. I don't know for sure though! Time to call the dealer and have him explain!

Is that the one that use to be McPherson Chevrolet? I lived in Dana Point for about 4 years.

That is how I took it as well .. 8 out of 8 .. you would be near the end of the year most likely .. so no suprises ..

To answer the guy's question from Dana Point - the dealer is Power Chevy in Irvine, CA - they were the only dealer I could find who promised me MSRP and wrote it on my pre-order. The dealer claims to have 20 total pre-orders sold. He expected 8 camaros in the initial consensus (I am number 8), not just one. I understand we'll have to wait to see what March and April's consensus allocations look like, but I'm rolling on borrowed time with my current vehicle so I'm a bit concerned. You would think the consensus allocations would be based initially on the sold orders the dealers already have -rather than just trying to be equal and sending every dealer an equal allocation regardless of whether they're sold or not.

20 pre-orders don't necessarily mean he's got 20 allocations does it? It is possible he only had...say...8 allocations and over-sold them by 12 right (hope not)? Need more info...

EDIT: Nevermind ^^^ See below...
