Pistol Grip Shifter with Tap Shift

SO I was very excited to see that my shifter had arrived yesterday afternoon. Quick shipping made this very fast to recieve. I opened it up to inspect the shifter. It looks really nice and fits my hand perfect. Feels a bit heavier than the stock shifter but im not complaining. It feels like its made of good quality parts and very sturdy. Me and my buddy got together to help me install the shifter. Took a good hour to install. Everything was simple except for the part where you extract the pin from the connecter. Once we finished, I took my car out for a drive and man let me tell you, it was extremly fun driving with the new tap shifter. Holding it comfortable and pivoting to switch gears is fun and easy. It is definitly a whole lot easier to take those turns with the tap buttons on the shifter. This makes my car almost feel like a new ride. I highly recommend this to us L99 owners. Looks good. Actually looks better in your pics than in the previous ones I've seen.
I want a shifter that does tap shift bad but not the way this one works with buttons. I had a 99 VW passat that had a nice tap shift.

Does if feel funny pushing the lower button? It seems to far away from where your thumb is resting in the pic.

I could see what you are talking about the VW passat shifter.
The buttons do not feel weird to me at all. It might look awkward in these pics but it feel very comfortable. These buttons are actually the same ones that are on the steering wheel.

You disable the shift buttons on the steering wheel completely. Besides why would you want to go back to the steering wheel when the buttons on the shifter work so much better and easier. That's how I feel about it atleast. I never used the buttons on the steering because it was uncomfortable to use, especially when turning.

What's more comfortable for you? Gripping the shifter as it is contoured and shifting, or resting your palm on top and shifting?

Resting my palm on top of the shifter feels the most comfort to me.

You can add an on/on or on/off/on toggle switch to retain use of the steering wheel buttons although most who use these shifters no longer have use for the wheel buttons but it is an option.

When I designed the shifter it was intended to rest your hand on top of the shifter, when doing so your thumb naturally rests between both buttons, it requires almost no movement to shift upward or donward.

Yes it's about an inch taller.

It seems everytime there are pictures of my shifters the comment that's huge comes into play. The fact of the matter is they look that way in pictures, why I don't know. Here is a side by side and overlay of it compared to the stock shifter. The factory shifter pictured has been stripped of a layer of plastic and the leather covering which adds another .125 in. making the difference .625 in. Hope this helps clearify this phenomena.

Your welcome. Not much difference in size but for some reason they do look big in pictures.
