Sigh. No one is saying owning an automatic somehow worse than owning a manual. It was a purchase decision.

But you cannot dispute the following statement:
"An manual owner is more involved with driving the car than an automatic driver". By definition, that is what a clutch and manual transmission provide.

In stop-and-go traffic, that 'involvement' can become a real pain in the arse, but we take the bad with the good.

I agree with most of what you said, except for this ^^^

There are indeed many (not all) who drive manuals who do say that and, in fact, berate those who choose to drive automatics. I don't want to drag this thread down. But, I do see a lot of those kinds of statements.

Anyway, I would like to see the option of an automatic transmission on the new Camaros.

In all honesty, those saying that it should only be manual are a bit selfish. Why not provide an auto for a broader market? In the end it's all about what GM can get out of it anyway. Having an auto option would deliver higher sales. So, why not?

I've had the M6 since the very beginning. Its pretty much my daily driver. I get stuck in alot of traffic. I will be getting a ZL1, but only if it's an automatic.

Why not offer both, buy what you like best. Dont shove one or another down our throats. Yes I can drive both tranny types.

It's all about the sales.

To that end I can't see Chevy shooting themselves in the foot for the third consecutive time.
First they refused to offer an automatic transmission option for the Corvette Z06.
Then they refused to offer an automatic transmission option for there flagship ZR1.

Those narrow minded decisions probably cost them a ton of sales for both models.

So I'am quite sure that Chevy has learned its lesson the hard way by now.
I will be shocked if there's no A7 option for the ZL1.

Last count, there are 159 that are saying that manuals and those that drive them are so superior that the automatic should not even be offered on the ZL-1.

Many posts on here claim that if no auto is offered, they won't buy a ZL1. There's another option (for some) to consider when choosing a race-oriented car, ya know....You can learn how to drive stick! A weekend to learn and a month to perfect.

Does a race-oriented car have to be the perfect daily driver? Ok, I admit its a pain in traffic, but it can be made up for in the overall driving fun.

Yes... I would like to drive a manual transmission but after two left knee surgeries I do not want to be eliminated from the ZL1 market because I may have more troubles with the bum knee down the road. Automatic would make sense... they already have the platform tested in the CTS-V and should be easy enough to apply to the Camaro. Lots of time for things to happen so lets keep it all on the positive side... state what you would like and leave it at that. GM is rebounding and putting a lot more thought into their offerings than what they have in the past. Looking forward to seeing what else they pull out of the bag of tricks.

Tell that to a person who has leg troubles, or no left leg. I also want the stick, but see NO reaon that they should not offer the car in an automatic. They already have a transmission that is validated with the lsa. And for those who like the 1/4 mile, the auto is faster.

That's why I said 'some' (not all).

If they already have a transmission ready and tested, they will offer it as an option.
