+1 lol. I have never learned to drive a stick yet, but I have a itchy feeling I will by the time I want a SS a little down the road.

Absolutely love my M6, and the wife DD's it with no issue whatsoever. Transmission shifts like a dream. Even in traffic, it's not an issue, clutch is light with good feel. In the V6 M6, you also get the larger rear end and posi, which gives you more options if you want to regear down the road.

most manual owners do not even think about getting a manual, they just automatically know to get it. but i understand why people get a auto.

Test drove both, ended up with auto because 1) wife can drive it 2) it just felt like heavier shift actions overall than my last manual (RX-8). Both are fun, you can't go wrong with either choice.

M6 with a short throw (I've got the Barton with pistol grip and I love it)

It's like sliding the bolt action in on a rifle, smooth, precise and VERY satisfying. If you don't like fun, the manual is not for you.

Just my personal opinion.

Get a Black Camaro 2LT RS.
Why would this be???

There was report of a pair of Carjackers that were thwarted because the younger accomplice couldn't drive a stick...

I love my, I love my, I love my M6 Tranny (Money for nothing - Dire Staits tune)

edit: looks like the bumbling carjacker story has been around a while

That is a very good point and that coupled with the fact this is a sports car made it a easy choice for me, manual it will be. I had a 1969 Camaro which had the Muncie 4 speed from the factory. After I rebuilt the engine I decided to put a TH350 in it just because I had one laying around and didn't have the money to buy a new clutch that could hold up to the rebuilt engines much increased power. I ran it like that for a summer and ended up saving to get a good clutch so I could put the stick back in. The comment that you steer an automatic but drive a stick is probably the best quote I have ever heard. My brother had a 1989 Iroc at the time that was a 5 speed and that car was teh same way compared to all the automatic Irocs I drove. My wife had a new Mustang and it is a stick and it feels the same way, FUN, exciting and Sporty.

The only way I'd consider an automatic sports car was if I was commuting in big city stop and go bumper to bumper traffic every day.

It really depends on you and your driving situation, where are you driving, city, freeway, backroads.
Congested city, probably an automatic.
Mine, a daily driver, mostly on highways, a manual.
Had it for 6 months, over 16k miles and no problems!

Good choice. I also have a M6 and commute 100 miles a day (have close to 1,700 miles on it in just over 2.5 weeks!)....no issues and I personally would have it no other way.

To further expand - interesting that GM decided not to call out the M6's "limited slip" diff on the sticker. The auto's have a smaller open diff that you have to pay an addiitonal $1K to get (as the auto option).

Wife & I love our M6/V6. She says it's the best shifting manual she's ever driven.

We also test drove the automatic. With the manual version, we get a nice sporty (but subtle) whine from tranny, in addition to a little more exhaust noise. It reminds me of the BMW M3, but at a fraction of the price (and less performance, obviously).

Good luck with your choice; either one will be a great car.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I love manuals and have had many, but there's no way in hell I'm driving on the beltway parking lot with a stick.
