My personal 2-cents... I love my SS and don't think there's enough justification to try and upgrade to this. It's not a knock on the ZL1. I think its a fine car. I just feel that as a daily driver, you're not gonna see that BIG of a difference performance wise. In fact you'll likely lose on comfort and day to day liveability especially with the car being lowered and the style of tire available.

This car is gonna do REALLY well in warm weather states but up in the Northeast... SS is the limit.

I think personally, for my next car I might have to return to convertible driving. I think if I stay Camaro again, I'll wait for the next gen platform and get that one. The current one should last until then.

ZL1 Looks like it will be a great car. Im excited to see what it will do against my SC552 Callaway Camaro since it looks like the ZL1 will have about the same HP. Does any one else think that the engine compartment looks a little messy right now? Looks like they could clean it up a bit from looking at the pictures. I have to give Callaway credit. They did an excellent job on my engine compartment. Just my 2 cents FWIW.

Hopefully the fact that GM is considering an automatic will make quite a few people happy. I know this was a big issue for some in the original ZL1 thread.

I'm fairly certain GM would seriously consider an A6 if they were to read some feedback, just from our Community. I imagine it couldn't be too difficult to get it to work. At the same time, perhaps it can't cope with the torque ZL1 might make

The auto is available in the CTS-V, I would be highly surprised if it is not available in the ZL1.

Unless GM is just playing their cards close, I couldn't disagree with your statement. I'm sure they want to keep as much information away from the public until it's closer to ordering and release, so I'm sure you're right. I know I'd be surprised! That monster is going to add a fair amount more weight, though, I suspect, but what's another 50 pounds?!

Additional coolers for high performance and track driving (including a differential cooler)

Any verification on this item...from the initial photos the differential cooler isn't there. It was also reported to be available on my CTS-V...but however it was for export only. Just curious as curious minds like to know.

I can only comment that it was either in a press release by GM or in a video in one of the links that I posted. I don't have any images of the suspected cooler, but know it was stated it would have one. Beyond that - I got nuthin' I'm just a curious as you, so if you do come across something, please share so I can add it.

6L80 -- ~230 lbs. ('Vette ~210 lbs. in the STS-V)

6L90 -- ~240 lbs. (CTS-V)

Maybe it's not even that much... I see the rated engine torque is right at the threshold in CTS-V, but the maximum gearbox torque is something like 885. I'm not sure what the difference between the two are...

~ 10:16 in the unveiling video; straight from Mr. Welburn's mouth

I heard $47K in one of those videos as a starting price.

What a bargain if that were true!

And why say estimated 550 HP when we all know the Caddy version makes 556 HP?

The exhaust clip make my V sound like a kitten! I want that sound.

The metal shaft creating the exhaust note you like is the reason hp is only estimated. It is my opinion that the zl1 will have a different camshaft and tuning than current ctsv lsa.

I also have a feeling that GM's secret horsepower "estimate" is actually closer to 600. That seems to be the most likely case in my opinion especially when you look at the raw HP to weight ratios of competitors.

When I buy mine I will likely just get the windows tinted and a tune. Can anyone tell me if a tune voids the warranty?

And PLEASE if anyone is listening or has the power...tell GM to offer a good Orange exterior color option (like Dodge or a newer version of Hugger), an automatic transmission, and other wheel options. I dread the day that I have to pick between my three 2nd choice colors. Sorry for the long entry. I will go back to just reading now .

This Car is simply amazing. I think GM got smart and realized they were losing out to those tuner companies like Hennessey, SLP, etc. Not like money is an issue when you're blowing 50 grand on a car, but a factory warranty is a pretty good deal if you ask me, not to mention cheaper than those guys as well.

The level of technology and the visual aesthetics of this car are unparalleled. I like how GM does variations off stock wheels (like the vette), even though the wheels are the only thing that aren't for me. I really love the midnight silver RS wheels and I would LOVE to stick them on my LS. GM got those so right!

For all the extras you get over the standard SS, 50 grand would be a steal. The quality in my LS is light years beyond my 4th Gen. and the ZL1 looks like a dream to drive. An afternoon with one (if not owning it)is definitely on my Bucket List!
