So, inquiring minds want to know... every track I've been to, the non race cars ususlly do a simple burnout and never get to the lights like the big boys do, is there a specific point at which they no longer worry about you rolling through the lights a little while doing a burnout...if necessary.... I do have a line lock on the way, but my street tires used to push the locked fronts when doing a good burnout. I can't imagine what 850-900 plus HP and drag radials will do.... my fronts may end up looking like Fred Flintstones feet....
use a higher gear.. In my Iroc drag car, I would start the burnout in 2nd and shift to 3rd. (Turbo 400 trans).

1st gear burnouts would cause the car to push all over the place and want to go sideways exiting the bleachbox.

With the higher RPM's on the tires, they don't get to hook up, and the car will 'sit' there and smoke them tires all day long...

Thank you for the info, though I don't think I'l be trying to grab third in the middle of a burnout with a manual transmission, but 2nd makes sense...

start your burnout in second gear.. coming out of the water box, the tires being wet, they will spin pretty easily.

It'd be pretty interesting if you could do a donut between the burnout box and the starting line...

I've seen a few others, do a quick flash to wet the rears and then pull forward out of the box and go with a higher gear burnout... I'll play with it... may just be able to go at it in third on the Line lock.... my only fear there is when they heat up and hook, that's a hell of a lot of strain on the driveline....

Hey R -
After you do that, feather the throttle down and release the line loc. That will keep driveline shock to a minimum. The remaining energy (flywheel effect) of the rear tires/wheels dissipates pretty quickly.

Thats a great idea... My oil change shop want a pair of stripes in front on their ramp, may be a great place to try this a few times, and it's only 3/4 of a mile from my house in case I do break something...

Dare I ask... I recognize one name, not the other, and am not familiar with the story behind the comment...
