So the ZL1 could run in the 11's in this case, completely stock.

That is an extremely fast production car and way more than the average guy who doesn't race is used to.

Modding for actual racing will be for the racer who wants go tens, but anything under 11.5 requires a roll bar. Modifying the ZL1 for the street with no traction will be a complete waste of money IMO
Agree completely!

Probably not, I can barely afford mods as it is! Car payments are easier to justify than mod splurges on an already-demonic car... Would probably drive it stock for quite some time, with the exception of replacing the steering wheel with a 2010/11 version.

I can't afford one, but if I could I'd mod it for sure.

Cold air intake
Pulley
Cam
Long-tubes
Tune

Lower 1" if it can be done without screwing up the MR
Additional chassis and IRS bracing

Window tint
Painted center stripe
Painted bowties
Wheels possibly down the road

I think I'd be pretty happy with that! Maybe port the heads if I still need more power?

Id do the Lingelfelter upper pulley kit, did one on my CTS-V and love it. Also would add more leather to the interior but keep the theme the same of course.
The shave the bowtie off the trunk and call it a day

Longtubes and Exhaust if the aftermarket keeps the quad design. I may replace the pulley if the car stops scaring my wife (She was startled when we drove a 1SS). She learned how to drive stick since ive been gone on this deployment. She drives faster than I do and she has an 08 Versa! It's quite frightening really. My first date with her, she was doing 106 in a Sunfire on the way to the bar... and was butt hurt when my lowly 325i (compared to a Camaro) was faster.

You throw away and 100K mile warranty and any chance of having it be worth something a few years down the road. If you are into heavy mods the smart play would be to buy the SS and have your way with. I think all this talk about heavy mods on the ZL1 is crazy. I will keep mine bone-stock. No mods. I have had plenty of fast cars in my day. A low 12 second car out of the factory is a serious machine. It doesn't need anything.

You didn't because you could get a bad@$$ CAMARO and wanted something with a personality. I want to mod' to personalize it and because stock is never enough. HECK - I even mod'd my AVR!!!

I have done some mods on my 2SS/RS and plan to do more. I just wouldn't tinker with the performance side of the ZL1 because it already has what I want, already a hella lot of muscle car, and 550hp is puhlenty for me. Hell, there are things I see people do to their cars that I'd NEVER DREAM OF DOING TO MY CAR! But that is their preference and I respect it. Just giving the guy props for speaking his mind even thought it was unpopular. So....go blow your pistons through your hood.

So basically this car has 457ish hp to the ground. That 550ish hp is prolly at the flywheel. So if I was to get it I would lose a ton on hp. It would take a whole lot on money to get this car to where my SS is at now. I agree that it's an awesome looking car I cant see myself getting one.
