Nope, it's an option. You can get a non-RS 2SS.

My 2SS has the RS package. Gotta have those Camaro eyes!

Don't forget ambient lighting/4-pack gauges on the 2SS

i have a 2ss non rs converted to an rs installed the oem halos oem darkened tail lights, and the painted roof ditch looks "painted" cause i have a cgm so i left that alone as far as the painted wheels i think thats an option on the rs pkg, that i would not have chosen, i like the white ss's better than red since i installed vintage white ss's on the fenders anyway, red on grille and trunk would not go well with the white on fenders,if i had bought a ss/rs from dealer i would have changed the red ones anyway..

It's your car and you can make it whatever you want. I would just suggest if/when you sell it that you don't mention it with RS package. You won't have the RPO code on your trim tag and it will make you look like you are deceiving if someone knows what to look for.

I would tend to disagree here. Some people, myself included, don't care for the package. I don't like the HIDs so much and I do like option to turn my fog lights on and off at my will. RS packages cannot do that with the DRLs without aftermarket harnesses. These are just my thoughts and opinions, take them as you will...
