Someone could easily ask what makes people who buy the car early entitled to anything more than anyone else? Have those people owned Camaros in the past? How many of those people have owned Camaros in the past? Is someone's money two, three, or four years down the road less valuable than early buyers? If I've owned two Camaros in the last ten years, does that make me entitled to different treatment? If I've invested $20K+ in my cars, does that make me better than a first-time buyer, or someone who has spent less? NO. To ask these questions is irrelevant regardless to those buying the car early and to those buying it later. I'm just saying it should be something that doesn't diminish future new Camaro owners, that's all. I've said it several times already, I think early buyers should get something, but something reasonable. Badging is a great idea (the only one I recall at the moment) and I know there are many others.
OK so you take issue with the poll and not GM? The word "committment" stuck in your crawl a little because you are committed but just can't do it right now. I see your point. However, I don' t think the author of this post intended to say you should be slighted because you are not ordering now. Like you said, it's just semantics so we can leave it be. I will argue though that money spent on the first Camaros IS more valuable than money spent years from now. If people do not buy NOW, you will not have a chance at buying later. In fact, those of us who are buying now will actually help you when you buy later. Since GM will enjoy greater economies of scale as more and more people buy, the cost to produce your car will be less than the cost to produce mine. Therefore, you will pay less (among other reasons of course). By the time you get your car, you will probably pay what I still owe on mine. At that point, I will be very jealous of you and your brand new Camaro for the cost of what I owe for my old one. See, its all fair in the end.

Great points. You're absolutely right, IMVHO. Leave it to the jealous ones to skew the meanings of the posts Great points

I don't believe in others sacrificing for ones who can't do or achieve; just as in this case - I think the numbered cars is a great idea. What you're almost saying is that a person who isn't going to buy Camaro shouldn't get what a buyer should and that's not what my post said. I fully intend on buying this car - just not now. Just because I'm not buying now doesn't make those that are a better Camaro enthusiast better than I. Again - I'm all for special numbering (badging even) for everyone right now. I think it's you that's keeping Camaro viable for GM.
Got yourself in a world of crap, didn't ya, buddy? But, I am saying, as you put it, "a person who isn't going to buy Camaro shouldn't get what a buyer should." You shouldn't get any early buyer recognition if you aren't buying one of the first. But, of course you're right, buying whenever is no measure of enthusiasm. Stick to your commitments. That makes you a far better person than any "I have the money now" car buyer and will make the car mean that much more when you finally get it!!!
