Some advice on insurance
Hello guys, i am new here and am/will be getting a camero 2LT (i did some reserch and decided this was for me for the price)
Sometimes this week since presidents week is on and i see a 2500 discount on an LS package maybee i can ask for some on the LT aswell. anyways i live in Farmingdale, New york (long island) and cocerned what the price for insurance will be Currently i am paying about 420 bucks for 6 months on a 94 acura legend. I beleive it is under my dads name what do you think the adverage price for insurance will be, if we get it under my dads name and adding me as additional driver, We have state farm. My dad has a clean record i beleive hes 54 years old and i am pretty sure he has no ticket violations or any of that sort. I'am 20 and i have "clean" liceneses as well I did check the online quote and i dont know if i did it wrong but it did say little for $600 dollars a month?? is this how it will be?? if so i am worried if anyone can shed some light onto this it would be nice ! |

If you plan to stay on your dad's policy, the easiest thing is to have him call (or you can call, if you are authorized to access information about the policy over the phone). Have them draw up a quote for insurance on the car you'd like to get (Camaro LT).
If the quote they give you is too high, try shopping around with other companies. Insurance laws vary by state; some companies offer online quotes; some do not. If not, you can always call to have a quote drawn up, or contact a local agent. It may be worth moving your dads car too, so the two of you can share a policy and get lower rates, etc. |

The first thing I would do, is spell Camaro correctly.

htoniv, if your going to stay on your dads policy, have him call and have them do the inquiry, but you are getting a V6, it shouldn't be that high, and and btw, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy.
![]() oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

I wouldn't count on getting a $2,500 discount on the LT models. You'll definately be paying a whole lot more for insurance due to the fact that its a new car and in your case probably leased or financed. I'm assuming your young also due to the fact that your under your dad's insurance currently. I would expect a 6 month premium to run between $700 to $850 dollars, even on your dad's policy.
