Here are the results of the actual polls taken on Camaro5:

Convertible?

YES--46%
No--54%

YES--65%
No-35%

Both actual polls paint a very different picture of actual demand than the various posts in this thread.

There is clearly a significant demand for a ZL1 convertible and for an automatic option. Again, if you don't want a ZL1 convertible or an auto, all you need to do is not buy one.
And--somehow--I doubt a number of the people posting in this thread are likely ZL1 buyers (in any configuration) anyway.

That's easy. Just wait a year or two after release and buy a used one.

A more widely-appealing blue available to all Camaros.
At launch the car had a blue at either end of the spectrum with ibm and abm, then after a number a months abm was was chopped off. People are starving for a medium blue, and if offered come 2012, I wouldn't be surprised to see in in the top 3 colors with black/white or whatever the other two might be.

Agree 100%

As counter-intuitive as it sounds, I think that if GM made the lighter metallic blue an extra-cost option---perhaps with limited production--it would actually INCREASE demand.

I know I'd pay for it.

I agree whole heartedly with you, it shouldn't be an issue for Chevy to produce the convertible and automatic as options. I believe they will. There is no reason they shouldn't. I don't want either, but there is clearly an audience of prospective buyers who do. Both are in current production and available. Many here write about it, but honestly it's pie in the sky for most. It does not cost anything to dream though. The ZL1 is a car out of reach for many because of it's initial cost(unknown) and long term affordability(loan etc..). We know it won't be cheap, and realistically it can't be. Many here already own a new(er) Camaro and will not trade it in on a ZL-1 because of the residual value VS loan balance remaining for repayment. It's a huge nut to crack. However, they are still fortunate owners of an extremely sharp car either way, a Camaro!
