I had a 2006 Corvette and it was flooded during hurricane Gustaf along with our house. We had State Farm Ins. and they were great. They totaled my Corvette and gave me full retail price plus taxes.I had bought the car new and it was about a year old with only 6000 miles on it.They were also very fair with our home..I do know what you feel like, when i opened the glove box to get out my registration water poured out,the pockets in the door had water in them also.My car sat in my garage for about 1 month before they came and picked it up,by the time they did everything was white inside because of the mold and mildew, when the tow truck driver dragged it up and put in on the top of the wrecker water poured out for at least 5 minutes..It realy sucked...but the most important thing was my wife and I and our son were ok..It took us over 2 months to completly rebuild our home but now we have a new home and i bought me a new corvette..Things will workout for you...Take Care and Best of Luck......

Just run it through a car wash with the windows down. Good as new.

But seriously, it pained me to look at those pics. I'll think of those pics the next time I send my car insurance payment in.

This thread really pulled at my heart strings. Makes me remember how much "Nicki" means to me. I don't know what I would have done when I saw it.

I started to remove it, but you have to crawl behind the wheel and remove the wheel well liner -- the car was covered with gasoline soaked mud, and the floor of the building was covered with 1 inch of gasoline soaked mud... so I aborted the mission. I declared all the aftermarket parts with insurance, and they said they would pay for that stuff, so I didn't put too much work into it.

Wise move, but sad just the same. Start dreaming of the replacement!

I dont know why they took your car before you agreed with them on a settlement. They not only took it, but they are going to auction it off. If it were me, I would not have allowed them to take the car until you were both in agreement on the settlement and that all your concerns were covered.

Hope they resolve it for you soon and that it works out in your favor. A terrible waste of a great car but someone will most certainly pull it apart and put it back together again.

Silly question but as a person who lives feet from Long Island Sound and has flood insurance isn't the pay out to be expected from FEMA not State Farm, or does State Farm just act as the go between for FEMA?
