Exclamation

Maybe they're just holding off on the stuff they couldn't figure out(ABL) and started production.

How exactly does Chevrolet define start of production? We are told they are making 40 cars a day now. Is it when they reach a certain production quantity a day? Is it when they have passed every legal hurdle? Is it when a certain set of managers and presidents sign off on the car? Is it the first day the cars they are making are sellable to the public? Or is it just a date for public relations that is relatively meaningless inside the plant?

Engineering changes will continue after the start of production, improvements will be made, parts will be substituted, etc. So start of production does not mean changes stop.

We can't really evaluate the likelyhood of an ordered car being made unless we know the true meaning of the start of production date announced publicly.

My theory is that there are a ton of people who simply missed that update and that's why they think production starts today.

Its actually Start of Regular production...which is the day cars start being produced with the 100001 VIN numbers. It is true they have already been producing cars but those were the test fleet. However, since the regular production got put off for one month maybe they started producing the "one V6 car for every dealer" today so they could get those knocked out before regular production starts. just a theory....nothing official.

Even that would be nice. Every car down the line brings mine closer to home!

I was at my dealer 2 weeks ago, he knows some of the people on the production team, he told me production has been pushed to March, he also told me they are doing a 60-40 split, 60% for V6, 40% for V8

I don't even know where to begin here.

All I can say is why would GM keep this a secret. But I really hope it's true.

It is what it is I guess....

Yeesh! This is what causes everybody hounding their dealers and thinking they are idiots.

Dealers get a "Final Allocation-by week" report. It tells them what model lines for that week (Thursday to Tuesday) they have allocation for. If each individual dealer ran that report, they would see whether or not they are getting a Camaro that particular week. Some dealers (probably an uninformed, stupid salesperson) is making a blanket statement and it causes a ruckus.

Will you please call your dealer that you ordered from, ask him if he got any Camaro allocation on his report and where your car falls within that.

If your dealer doesn't know what that report is, YOUR DEALER IS AN IDIOT!
