Got myGFX on and a TICKET

Well I was driving home today from the shop had my OEM GFX put on and I got pulled over by a small town cop. My escort 9500ix never went off and I have never driven my car on this route so no learned falses. He got me with LIDAR said I was doing 43 in a 25, not good a 5 pointer. My HUD said that I was going 34 and he said better get it checked. Well I will always remember the day I got my GFX installed.

34 mph in a camaro looks like 43 mph to others.

Did you see the reading on his LIDAR? IF you ask, they'll normally show you. If they don't, then that's one item you can present if you fight the ticket.

Did he see the Escort on your dash? That will buy you a ticket right there...

No I was doing 34 in a 25, still speeding, but no way on this road was I doing 43. I have tint and a tint waiver so after he pulled me over and saw he had an old man, 46, he was checking out my ride and asking me questions about it and said it was a nice car at least he could have knocked it down to 39 = no points since no tickets in past 3 years

No on the ticket it said LIDAR.

Yes he saw it. I have it hard wired so even if I pulled it he would have seen the cord.

Not too familiar with that model- I have the Escort 9500 ci. Is your model a laser detector and jammer?

When was his lidar calibrated? And if u find out your HUD is off that much you might get chevy involved since it is their product that "caused" you to speed.

Sucks. But you can fight it. I strongly recommend the National Motorists Assoc. They have helped me fight and win a few times. I've been a member for years and support their campaign toward rational traffic laws and against red-light cameras.

http://www.motorists.org/

They have great ticket fighting resources available. If you can't beat it, you can probably do your homework and go meet with the prosecutor before the trial and get it reduced to a non-point or minimal point ticket. This has worked for me also.

Good luck!

It is a 360 laser detector no jammer, but even if I had the jammers installed they only work if they detect the laser I think.

my question is what effect did having the ground effects put on have to do with a speeding ticket? i agree that if your hud registered one thing and he got you for another, i'd fight it by using a calibration defense. i think most states allow you to have your speed indicator calibration checked and if it's faulty, then you are not in the wrong. unless of course you are going way faster than the traffic flow and it's obvious.
