I'll post on the results.
Good info!!!!!!!!!

WEAK MAF PHENOMENON?

After having tuned over 350 2010/11 Camaros with Every different air intake on the market, NA and supercharged, I have yet to experience this Phenomenon.

I have never seen a MAF that did not respond to the changes nor see any that need any special changes.

In the Tuning Forums I frequent there has Never been any Talk of this.

It seems odd that every other Air Intake system works fine with the MAF that came on the Car.

Please Elaborate on this Phenomenon.

Ted.

The reason you did not see this with other air intakes is because as verified by the flowbench, NO OTHER INTAKE ON THE MARKET matches the flow numbers of the VR system.
Most aftermarket intakes barely flowed more than stock
EX
Stock LS-3 flowed through the throttle body, intake manifold and head#3 cylnder
272 CFM @ .500 inch of lift

Now with the stock air box with a Green panel replacement filter
264CFM @ .500 inch of lift
(this beats over 98% of the intakes out there)

An aftermarket cone with pipe style, choose just about anyone
they range from 258-267 CFM @ .500 inch of lift

Now the VR NO tune model
277CFM @.500 inch of lift

The VR exceeds the flow of having no intake at all, even in a static conditions.
Most intakes simply don't do much in terms of actual real world airflow changes regardless of what they tell you for filter flow. filter flow is not system flow.

This "condition" DOES SHOW UP with these other intakes when a CAM is installed In a Camaro or a Corvette.

Heres an off brand example: The same meter is used in the new Toyota tundra V-8 .When the air box horn is removed from the fender, the truck begines to have a rough idle. When a high flow panel filter is installed in the OEM box, the truck runs lazy, rich and has a rough idle. If the box is simply unlatched ,the truck dies!
This is the same meter with a single letter "U" designation. If swapped out for a number and letter designation, the truck runs fine.
(These are Hitachi meters, regardless of what OEM you find them in)

Basically ANY brand vehicle that uses this meter will be subject to its variation.

Had to replace mine before install. Vararam quoted me a price of $89 plus shipping.

Try here. Patrick will beat that price.

You don’t have to change out the maf sensor on the supercharged cars do you? Maybe the vararam intake allows naturally aspirated cars to flow more cfm then cars with forced induction??
