OEM GFX vs. Aftermarket GFX
I would love to get the OEM GFX for my 2SS but I don't want to pay close to $2000 for it (unpainted). So I found a place that sells it for quite a bit less but it says, "Urethane GM-X"... is that some cheap imitation material that will break into pieces the first time a rock hits it going MPH?
Does anyone know what material the OEM Stock GFX are made of? Will there be painting issues if it is made of a different material than the OEM GFX?

its not the material its how they are made. replicas are a mold of the stock parts. so you run into a problem with fit and finish. the way the front splitter attaches to the front bumper is allot more complicated that it seems. with replica mounting point can be off or nonexistent.
I have gone down the replica parts path... and not bashing on "clone parts" because some times you can get away with it and save some coin... but I would not go with the the replicas of the gm kits... and the rear on these kit integrate the exhaust shrouds into the mold and just dosnt look right. it up to you in the end but some times you end up paying more to get the replica parts to fit/work right... then it would cost to get the stock one form the factory... if you want them that bad then just wait save and know your going to do it right the first time. rather then save some money and end up with a sub par final product good luck!!! ps. you want urethane... allot of companies go with urethane because its cost effective and flexible as apposed to fiberglass which will crack. Both the kits stock and gm x kits are urethane. |

I just bought the Stillen Street Scene 5 piece kit. Now waiting for an opening at the shop to get them painted and installed. They are urethane and was $600 from Stillen. The front splitter comes in V6 or V8. The side skirts are the same. Here is a pic of member BLIZZARD_2010_SS's ride with them. He said the fit was perfect. I expect to pay around $1000 for paint and install.

Wow, thank you so much for your response. This is exactly what i needed to know and it looks like I will be going with factory. I will be installing myself and I don't want to run into any problems during the install. thanks again

yea, I agree, I origiannly bought some aftermarket gm like side skirts but after talking to my body shop he talked me into the original side skirts. while I paid more, I agree that in the long run I made the right decision.
