I wanted to remind everybody driving in for this event that we have some pretty extreme traffic laws in Ontario that actually allow the cops to perform the roles of judge, jury and executioner - right on the side of the road!

The cops have loosely adopted the term "stunt driving" and if the cop decides you've been involved in this activity and you are pulled over and charged, a tow truck is called, your car is impounded for a week (you pay towing and storage charges), you lose your licence for that time as well and they leave you stranded on the highway. You have to figure out how to get somebody to come and pick you up. Fines can range from $2000 - $10,000 upon conviction.

"Stunt driving" includes exceeding the posted speed limit by 50 km/hr (30 mph) or more and "racing" (at any speed!). Our limit is 100 km/hr. If you're nailed going 150 km/hr (92 mph), you could have a lot of regrets.
You don't want a cop thinking that you are having "a go" with the guy next to you at a stoplight or in the other lane on a highway.
Be forewarned - the cops here won't care if you have an out-of-province plate.
Drive safely!

Best regards,

Elie

I will meet at the mentor stop, if not before in route.

maybe swap cell numbers sometime before the route starts, that way we can communicate if you are on time, early, if I meet in route, etc..

Also, I am staying at the Quality Suites, So I will be breaking off to go to my hotel.
