Very disappointed with my ACT clutch

A few months back I bought the ACT twin disk "street" clutch and have been dealing with it shuddering ever since. While the shudder decreased after a few hundred miles, it has leveled off and remains to this day.

The clutch and install together cost over $1,500.

I bought it from the guys at Stillen, I wonder if they could get ACT to step up and refund at least part of my investment?

I'd be surprised if I bought an aftermarket twin disc and it didn't shudder, to be honest.

The ZR1 Twin Disc is the bomb and does not shudder. First I installed a Fidanza Twin Disc and it was crap so I took it out and had the ZR1 clutch installed.

Back in the day I would agree, but technology has advanced such that shuddering can be avoided.

Im sorry you are unhappy,i know that feeling all to well.Ive been working with a well known clutch company to bring a great twin and tripple to market that my soon to be wife can drive. I will let anyone that is in the market for a clutch check it out at Camaro5 or any other event we attend. Its a little early to release the info but i will start a new thread shortly.

There are plenty of drivable clutches out there.

Yea, it's just my luck that I bought one that shudders. ACT was adamant that the clutch does not shudder, guess they just wanted to make a sale.

Lingenfelter or ADM twin disc ZR-1 is the only clutch you should use for these cars.

There are a lot of happy customers with them.

My Textralia Exo-skel shudders when I baby drive..

As soon as you give it some hard life it stops doing it for a while..

supposed to be some glaze forming form the slipping.

I have not seen a carbon/carbon clutch that has something in the middle of ON/OFF

Like I mentioned above ZR1 Twin Disc set-up is the way to go and it does not slip or chatter

You're right Ray. I ordered one along with a level 6 RPM transmission today.

Looks like our setups are very similar, have you taken your car to the drag strip yet? I just need to beef up the rear end next and I should be ready to go.

That cool.. You will love the clutch. It feels way better than stock even though it a twin disc. I have not made it out to the track yet, but planning on it after I get drag radials for it. Was the trans expensive?

We ran the ZR1 setup for awhile. It did take alot of abuse but the disks finally fell apart from the abuse.Definitely a good street clutch with limited track abuse in high hp cars.

I still sway into ussing the mcleod RXT's on most of the cars we do.
