Brake fluid reservoir acting weird...

So yesterday I am draggin away at Zmax in Concord, NC and after a few passes I pop the hood open. One of the guys checkin out the engine, says WTF is all this crap around your brake fluid reservoir. Looked like brake fluid was leaking out, we thought it might be the cap. But the reservoir was full, so that was even more confusing.

Anyway, cleaned the outside of the reservoir, did about 3 more passes, and checked again. Cap is dry, but there is still liquid outside on the reservoir.

So I come home clean it up, reservoir is still full, but some brake fluid just in case. Then I drive to my friends at night, come home and check, everything is dry. This morning I go grocery shopping, come back and check and still dry.

I am totally confused at this point.

the cap is bad. when fluid is hot, pressure is built up and the bad sealing cap lets out a bit of fluid.

It's a bad cap. I have the same issue. It's a very small amount but any leaks regarding brake system is not good.

TECHNICAL
Bulletin No.: 09-05-22-005A
Date: March 05, 2010
Subject: Slight Brake Fluid Leak/Weeping Around Master Cylinder Reservoir Cap (Replace Cap)
Models:
2010 Chevrolet Camaro
Built Prior to VIN Breakpoint A9197567
Supercede:
This bulletin is being revised to add a VIN breakpoint. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 09-05-22-005 (Section 05 - Brakes).
Condition
Some customers may comment on noticing that the brake master cylinder reservoir cap has a slight leak or is weeping brake fluid.
Cause
This condition may be caused by insufficient sealing of the reservoir cap.
Correction

Replace the master cylinder reservoir cap following the steps below:
1. Remove and discard the original reservoir cap.
Note
If in question on brake fluid or level, refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling, in SI.
2. Check the brake fluid level. If the brake fluid level is above the half-full point, adding brake fluid is not recommended under normal conditions.
3. Wipe clean the outside surface of the master cylinder and/or reservoir.
4. Install a new reservoir cap, GM P/N 20819283.

I had a bad cap as well. It was replaced under warranty - no problems since.

The bad cap seemed to fit and seal well... but within a few days, I'd notice more fluid around the seam on the reservoir. It must not have held enough pressure...

btw, my car was built in Feb 2010.

Hmmmm......Interesting, I noticed the other day paint bubbling p under the master cylinder but I did not see where anything was leaking. Took it in but all they said was that it isn't currently leaking. Special order in March 2010,arrived April 14 2010.
