So What route are you guys planning on taking now??? From Abilene to Fort Stockton is about 4 hours and 45 minutes?? It's 258 or so Miles from Abilene to Fort Stockton, so we can do it in one drive but man it's a SOB!!! If we stay on I-20 though it's 70 plus most of the way, IF we cut through san angelo head south towards I-10 sooner there are a bunch of little towns, speed zones of 35 in small towns and all kinds of delays with lights and such. SO just throwing that out there!

Can you stay on 20 until Monahans and head due south... It would add about 40 miles to the whole trip... Just curious.. I figured it would be a great place to get the whole train together and have lunch...

Here is the info that I got from Jessy (Firefighter1) from Abilene..

Off of I-20 The exit will be 285. It's a right hand exit. You will come to an intersection, cross traffic does not stop, so be VERY careful. Make a left go under the overpass and the fuel station is on the right.

Allsup's Convenience StoreAddress:‎
2101 West Stamford Street
Abilene, TX 79603-1849
(325) 672-7162

This Station has 20 pumps, all with pay at pump and 93 Octane. They will have extra staff on hand too (2 cashiers) to help inside ring ups. Plenty of parking!

Let me know when you think you guys are leaving Fort Worth, and I'll make sure the Abilene guys all meet there at the right time!

To go from Ft. Worth, Tx to Ft. Stockton, TX is 6 hrs 22 mins / 410.59 miles and from Ft. Stockton, TX to Las Cruces, NM is 4 hrs 2 mins / 285.55 miles which is a total of about 10 1/2 hours of driving and 696 Miles

without the detour to Ft. Stockton it is 9 hrs 31 mins / 653.43 miles which is about an hour out of the way.

I say we meet up with the crew in Ft. Stockton, What does everyone else think?

Sounds good to me. I will talk to Blackhawk6 in the morning. Think we were meeting at 7am and hooking up with DFW crew to leave. That only gives us 30 mins if we stop for fuel. Might be better to meet at 6:30am and be on the road by 7am. This would give us a better start in case we get slowed down. Would like to get to meet gang prior to dinner.

Hmmm, my math may be bad, but, 258 /70 is about 3.5 hours... bearing in mind the slower traffic areas, figure 4:00 max... or am I bad wrong...

Your not far off, but we have speed zones in sweetwater that slow to 55 for about 5 miles, then 65 speed zones in colorado city, big springs, stanton, mildand and then oddessa, however this is just the time I'm going by from google maps and the posted speed limit. I did add a little time for a potty break in the middle... Cause if you have never traveled with my girlfriend, 2 hours and 30 minutes is about as long as we go before I start getting the angry eyes if I don't pull over soon!

lol, last year we missed an exit and she had to go REALLY bad, the very next road sign past the exit we missed said, "next exit 15 miles!!" The fight that ensured from that point left us not talking for about 3 hours of the trip! lol
