In short, they don't bother checking for it.

Last I heard he was in the process of moving out here to Cali, really haven't seen much of him since then.

Speak of the devil! lol.....yeah sorry been super busy at school. Seems radiology techs don't get a break. Yep, it was me that did that. So pretty much the dealer couldn't see the tune enable, since GM (at the time) hadn't developed any software to "see" it. The word they gave me was that since a majority of camaro owners would be the SS and since the LS engine software allows a tune to be visible, there didn't seem to be the need that V6 owners would do such a thing, lol. Along with the fact that any new engine the software to detect a tune would need to be created and then all dealerships would need updates for the tech's computer reader thingys, lol. Hope that helps!

Does it matter what tune you do? Would a general tune be any different then one that is used to get rid of CEL? Im new to the modding world so dont hate XD

Naw, no hating here man, I was like you several years ago and didn't knw squat! I can only speak about the Trifecta tune, which is going to work on several point issues with the cars management system. Along, with the fact that Trifecta is the only tune out there right now.

Well, even if it is completely true that GM never did intend to check for, nor do they still check for V6 tunes.....I'd be pretty suprised if they were not aware that some of us are doing tunes. We know there are several top Camaro team project gurus cruising these forum, so you'd think they would have seen it by now. Now whether they care to worry about it or not...who knows? (we're such a tiny fraction of the whole so far)

Maybe that is part of the reason they 'might' be planning an ECU brand change for next year? Flashes on the new computer might be more easily traceable just like the SS.

My dealer Service Manager knows I have a tune done, and he does not give a crap. In his opinion as long as it doesn't cause an issue, he couldn't care less. He also knows that the tune doesn't mess much with the ECM anyway.

Maybe that is the reason also....ECM isn't affected.

So as long as I get a reasonable tune that doesn't impact longevity (remove all TM, change redline to 8,500, etc.) I should be good, correct?

I read somewhere there is a hidden version available from Vince (cant' find where right now). Doc, is that correct or is it just that the "norma;" tune can't be seen by the techs at GM?

Not sure about that "ghost" tune from Vince. I have just the regular ole tune with my custom mods applied. You can always call Vince and ask as he is very friendly about answering any questions. And yes, any tune you would get from Vince is reasonable; ie - he won't recommend it if he doesn't think it is smart choice.

So if I were to get 3.73 gears and LT's and did the tune to get rid of the CEL and adjust the speedo it would have the same impact on my warranty as just doing the speedo? What are the chances that GM will refuse to do warranty work on my car if lets say something busts in the transmission or something happens with the engine? Would they then check if there was been a tune?
