Just to add to what trm has said.

It's looking like Most preorderd v6's will have to wait untill the Dealer V6's are distributed. The constraint is due to the fact that GM wants to give the dealers a car to show off, before the sold cars arrive.

"The Camaro has always been scheduled for Feb 2009 for Start Of Regular Production. It has only been delayed once and that was for 30 days. "

No if you remember back along time ago the camaro was suppose to be a 2009 model then they pushed it to 2010 then they delayed 30 days.

I guess that settles it, if I order a V6 in May and won't be getting it until october the earliest I'll be looking for something else. Once again. Oh well, would've been nice to have a Camaro.

Then again, I have changed my mind a million times already. So...

Not necessarily true. You just need to find a dealer with allocation remaining. AFAIK it is not just the current pre-orders but all initial allocation that is supposed to be built by October. My dealer still has plenty of allocation left last I knew and is at $500 over invoice. It wouldn't hurt to give him a call and ask where you would be currently. He, or any dealer for that matter, should be able to work something out with you to "slot" you in but not order the vehicle yet.

I think most people understand why it's on constraint, they just don't understand the reasoning behind the decision by Chevy to put these "1 per dealer" cars ahead of sold orders. To me it kind of says that Chevy doesn't feel that the purchasers of the V6 model are true enthusiasts. I know those of us that ordered V6's are biased regarding this but still. It just doesn't seem right for someone that went extremely out of the way to place the first order at their dealership on the 13th of October to have to wait behind others just so Chevy can send a floor model to every dealership in the country. It just reminds me of the same mentality that I get from the dealership that doesn't put its customers first.

The simple fact is that Chevy is not hurting on preorders for the Camaro, so I don't understand the rush to get these "1 per dealer" cars out of the factory.

You certainly have a good point. And I'm trying to be objective. and not fuel the fire. But, I have to agree that this is tough on the v6 preorders.

On one hand, GM needs to get as much exposure as possible. On the other, people have committed to the car and that should be rewareded.

Tough decision. Hopefully they will mix it up in the near future, and the wait won't be that long.

Agreed that I would feel the same was as you. IMO, while I understand the need to get a "sample" to each dealer, the least they could have done was run the sold V6s together with the "samples". It's just the right thing to do. My .02

I'm still perplexed by this decision regarding the dealer cars. What is the point in putting the cars in the show room rather than on the streets where people will see them.

For those people that aren't enthusiasts, they certainly aren't heading into their local Chevrolet dealer just to say hi and see what's new in the world of GM. Hence, they will never see the showroom cars, unless the dealers actually let the cars out of their showroom and onto the streets for test drives. But I don't see that happening either because the only thing the dealer will be able to offer them after the test drive is the opportunity to place an order for their own Camaro, to be delivered at some point later this year. Once those prospective buyers walk out the door, chances are real good that they will buy something else instead because we live in a "got to have it now before I come to my senses" culture.

For those that are enthusiasts and ordered a v6, they should be rewarded with their cars because these are the people that are going to convert friends and family members into new Camaro owners..."Check out my new Camaro, it's got a v6, 304hp, gets 27 mpg and starts at $22,995! And it looks way better than your "insert foreign econo-car name here"." SS owners, no offense, are less likely to be converting their non-enthusiast friends into new Camaro owners - most non-car people will still see them as gearheads that only care about hp, mpg be damned.

I'm glad I didn't pre-order my 1LT/RS. I think I'd be absolutely livid with GM right now about this constraint.

You're right on the mark there rolnslo, I am absolutely livid. There is no excuse they can offer that will change mind attitude about this decision. For those that say you've waited this long another month or 4 won't kill ya.... forget it, I'm only willing to wait so damn long. My patience is getting thin real quick.

If I remove my Hurst shifter option will my 2SS/RS be produced or released earlier?

Most likely. It depends on how high on the list you are at the dealer. If you are one of the last it probably won't make a big difference.

But if you are one of the first. Then it shorten delivery time.

Will this change my order acceptance - Will the dealer be able to remove the RPO without losing my "place"??

Do you know. Thanks!

It depends on how high on the list you are. If you havent' been skipped for the Hurst shifter already, and you remove it, you will keep your current place in line.
