Severe lifter noise with only 16600 miles lasting well over a couple of minutes or more. Took it by the chevy dealer and of course they had not heard anything about this problem. I flipped out the bulletin from the internet and their eyes lit up. So I Emailed GM today and they called me and are going to follow thru until it is fixed to my satisfaction. EVERYBODY that is having this problem needs to email GM so they will issue a recall about the lifter noise problem....

Just happened to me today,,i put a new thread in the other forum just before...

Sucks..Glad i saw that bulletin and glad it will be covered

Another thing to look for as in my case besides the ticking and misfires all over the place...i had fine metal shavings in my oil.prop from worn out lifters or the springs on the lifters

I noticed a slight tick from a cold start (nothing like the youtube video), but when I took it to my dealer they tested and informed me that it was normal and not my lifters at all, but the air pump warming up. I have it in writing on the service receipt, so for now I will trust their assessment, but if this does turn out to be lifters I'll be pissed.

Oh and my "tick" only last for like 10 seconds or less.

Does anybody notice a ticking after driving the car for a while? I put about 75 miles on my Camaro yesterday and when I stoped to get out to check the mail the car sure sounded like it was ticking pretty good. I don't notice it when I fire it up because I always start it, back it up, and then drive it- I don't usually just listen to it after I start it.

Mine still ticked after tuning out the AFM. the lifters just have a defect. the new ones fix it i guess....
Blackknight.
My is doing the same thing.... How do I get GM to pay for it?
I bought it in late December and put it in the barn... Now it's ready to come.
Thanks,

Where do I find the TSB. I know it's probably on here somewhere. The search site isn't very helpful.
Thanks,

Blacknight:

Am I reading your post on page #1 correctly when you say you "tuned out AFM" (altering the ECM) and GM covered this lifter problem under warranty?

This problem is not caused by tuning the vehicle it is a mechanical problem starting at the factory by using low quality lifters. GM should replace the parts regardless. I did not have my car tuned at the time.

but if you are tuned, they probably will deny your claim that its a warranty issue and say you caused it by tuning the vehicle. even tho thats total shit, im fairly certain thats the way it would go.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought you tuned the AFM out before the warranty work.
