Would they then check if there was been a tune?
I don't think anyone can answer that. It's up to your dealer if they would try and see if there was a tune.

Weird questions but is bumper to bumper warranty voided to?

No, if your paint starts bubbling, or if your power windows stop working, etc, they will still be covered.

When I tuned my car, there was a prompt box that appeared after the tune. It was the ghost tuning option. It also had a description of what it does, it is to make the dealership have a harder time finding the custom tune. However, it goes on saying if it does not apply for your vehicle, the program will ignore it. So i clicked "Apply Ghost Tune" and it took another 30 seconds to load. =o

When I tuned my friends Manual V6... that prompt box did NOT appear. So I do not know what happened lol.

I'm guessing if someone comes in with CAI, new exhaust and LT's with no CEL they might just put it together.

Yea same when I was applying a new tranny tune last night. Its because Vince has a new install software out. Its a little different than the one Devildoc and Myself started using last summer.

I went into my dealership to have them replace the middle console because they sold me a brand new car a month and a half ago with a scratched up middle console and agreed to warranty it out. I sat and spoke with my service manager for about an hour about the BBK's, turbo soon, tune and CAI I had and he couldn't give a rat's ass. I also made it a point to ask today if they had the ability or ever looked for a tune on the V6 and he literally laughed. So in short, I wouldn't worry on your V6 tune.

Pretty much like what I was told also - GM isn't going to fork over all the money to create a flash detecting program for the V6. Not when the V8's tranny will mostly likely be affected easier.

Hmmmm, didn't realize a Ghost option was out, though I am not worried. Also, something people don't know is that some of the V6 autos came with the same L99 software or different software then later ones.

Same software as L99? Not saying your deadwrong or anything lol...but that just sounds a bit strange. By "same software", do you mean the code is from the same people perhaps? Or maybe that they share certain parts of their programming? Theres no way they could both be using the same tables for Air/Fuel and timming and stuff like that.

I guess it could be possible that the tables for both cars could be present, but it just uses the tables that apply to it?

lol..totally guessing here.

EDIT: so I saw your post in the other thread about some kind of "hybrid" L99 software. Who knows...could be.

So, Current status is GM can't and doesn't really care about V6 tunes.

And, Vince has a "ghost" option that seems to only work with Automatics.

That sum it up pretty good? Well d@mn, I getting me a tune! (Next thing on list, that is. Got a budget when you have 4 kids, 3 still at home.)

So, anyone know exactly what the ghost tune does? Or how???
