Didn't we have the discussion on stepped headers not long ago? I seem to remember it coming to the conclusion that they're not worth the price, at this power level. I'm sure they're excellent quality and look nice but if you're looking for huge gains from them, I don't think you'll find it. It would come down to just how much more $$ they are.

No...I think everyone has an opinion. However I have done the tests. Not just on the new Camaro, but also the GTO, and the stepped headers always make more power. Some people will claim because I sell them I have an agenda or whatever..but I have never sold someone a stepped header and not had them be happy with the results. Every dynosheet I have seen from independent tuners shows higher power than you would normally expect. That being said, stepped headers do take a bit more work to make and cost a lot more..so normally companies charge crazy money for them, and make them a "custom" header. We are able to keep the cost down on these by buying them in big runs instead of one at a time.

Personally, for me, it would be easier to just sell the 1 7/8" headers that I can order a few at a time vs. the stepped ones because they cost more, and I order them dozens at a time. That beings said I sell and promote the stepped headers however because for someone willing to pay for the absolute best, they flat out work. I run these on my own personal car..and I can run anything I want.
The most simple analogy in the world is that stepped headers are like pinching a hose. If you pinch a hose a little, the water comes out the end faster. Same with a header...a stepped header makes the exhaust come out the end faster, and

The question is how much more power and at what cost? If you're looking for every last HP you can get and don't care about cost, I can see these as a option. With the price of headers already up there, adding even more cost to gain 5-10whp doesn't seem to be cost affective, unless that cost is negligable. As to making the exhaust come out faster, what happens when it gets slowed back down through the cats and exhaust pipes?

It's all in how you phrase it. If normal headers give you 20-30 rwhp, and stepped headers give you say...5-10 more HP..then that is 30% more power. Thats a lot for only a $200 premium. People spend $300 and $400 on intakes that barely give that much power.

I think I saw that SW makes two different versions, a 2" to 1-7/8", and a 1-7/8" to 1/-3/4". Does Kooks also make a 2" to 1-7/8"? Hey Maryland Speed, can you PM me a price on the Kooks? Thanks.
