The best we can get here at the pump in Alaska is 90. My understanding is that those octane listings are actually averages so may be more and may be less. This will become a summer time daily driver soon, so I'll be fueling up quite often. Mixed emotions about using boosts which wouldn't do much to the point value anyway, although I do have some 108 in my garage. I might be able to buy expensive 110 (if I can find it) and mix it with 90, but that's likely not going to happen.

With only 90 octane available, I wonder if it's even worth it for me to do the pull?

Thoughts?

Question reference fuse pull, mileage and performance -

Had my LS3 about a month. I've only used 93 octane since I bought it. My dealer swears he filled it with 93 when it came in (was a pre-order Vert I was hounding him daily on for months.) It runs smooth and I have no odd noises nor strange reactions while driving...

However, after driving only V6s all my life, I really expected "more" from the car. I don't get that "thrown back into my seat" feeling id anticipated, even at hard acceloration. Furthermore, my mpg fluctuate between 14-16 with a combination city/hwy driving. I tried really watching my acceloration this last tank, and im still only at 15.5.

Is this a case where the fuse pull may be beneficial? If so, will this blank all my radio, garage door opener etc controls as well?

Lastly, someone else mentioned the fuse thing only applied to the early build camaros and that mine, being an '11, wouldn't be effected.

Any suggestions?

Search the thread here for key words like Knocking/pinging or clicking
You shoudn't here those noises. The reason for the fuse pull as because the car corrected it's self DUE TO those noises. Hence, no more noises. Problem is that the car can't RE correct it's self. So..... fuse pull.

None of your setting will be effected. It's the ECU (Engine computer) that is reset.

And yes, spounds like your car is in the 'wheelhouse' for a fuse pull. Coulnd't hurt to try it.

As to the octane rating, unless it's different there inside, the octane rating on the pump is the minimum... It can be a little higher, but it is not supposed to be any lower... I got this from reading the sticker on the gas pump while filling up.. I get bored pretty easily, so... I read it...

Thanks for the info., but with only getting 90 octane at the pump and not 93 as recommended, is the pull even worth it?

Wait a sec...you're catching 2nd and 3rd with no mods on an L99 by simply removing these fuses for an hour?!?
