It's a YINYANG thing.
360 divided by 6 = 60
360 divided by 8 = 45
Therefore, if you're going in a straight line, or in circles, the V8 is better.
OK, the truth, if I needed a daily driver, I'd get the 6, if I wanted a go-fast weekend hotrod, or just have gobs of money to spend, I'd get the 8.

I think a large majority of the people who are "dissing" the 6 fall into one or more of the following three categories:

1. Their parents bought them a v8 car in the past... most likely a mustang.
2. Not enthusiasts, just trolls.
3. People who have not owned an F-body in the past and are just talking shit.

I ordered and SS, but I owned a v6 Firebird before I bought my Trans Am. Especially given the power the v6 is making in the 5gen, the 6 is no joke.

I see your white text and call you on it - a lot of us want a fun-to-drive daily driver. With both the initial specs AND the response of this engine to simple bolt ons, this car looks to be one the best bang for the buck deals out there for that category. Sure, there are faster things, and some of them cheaper or about the same price, but as I've said before, most of them are FWD, and I've driven fast FWD cars before. They can't hold a candle in fun factor to a RWD car, even if the RWD car has less power. At least not in my honest opinion.

And, in a lot of ways I liked the smoothness of my Buick V6 better than the roughness of my Camaro V8, and wished that my Camaro drove as smooth as the V6 while still pulling like it did when I got on it. This engine seems to be a good combination of the two.

I owned a 1980 Z28 purchased in 81. It had 175 hp and 285 lbs of torque. My GP GTP had ~250 hp and 280 lbs of torque and would smoke my Z. The V6 will be a blast and do fairly well on gas, so I don't really think it will be much of a compromise. If you don't want a V6 then don't get one.

once we put a super or turbo on our v6s nobody is gonna be laughing

I plan on buying a D3 supercharger or a turbo in the future

these arguments are useless the v8 or die/nothing people will never acknowledge the lt as a true sports/muscle car because it doesn't have as much hp as their car or some reason that makes them feel better

I will wave to every SS i see and i hope they will wave back

Yeah my big brother used to pick on me too until I packed on some muscle and whooped his ass. Now he never does anything to provoke me. The same things gonna happen when I add a little muscle to my V6. Big brother is gonna get a can of WHOOP ASS opened on him!

V8 all the way baybee!...OK, now that I'm done rufflin feathers, I'll use ummmmm blue

Unless you think this is the coolest V6 Camaro to come out of GM EVER! And I do...It's gonna be an excellent car. I bought a 2001 V6 Camaro for my boy, it ran pretty decent, you can bet I'll be stopping by the dealership just to play with the 6-banger and scare a salesman

As far as the OP's question...There will always be people that are better smarter prettier faster than you, (in their mind) don't get offended, it's nature, everyone does it sometime, but some people are eat up with it.

I'm truly proud of what GM has done with the V6 Camaro, considering they didn't have to put their top shelf 6 in the car...But they did...And it's good.

You can park your 6-banger by my big block anytime.

Or just take my word for it. The V6 is a blast. But not a V8.

Clearly, there's nothing wrong with the V6 in the least. Anybody saying otherwise is living under a rock, or has been spoiled by overpowered cars all their life...

fwiw, in the end; my plans for a V6 (should I get it) could EASILY lay waste to anything on the roads less than a C6 Z06..........how can anyone call that potential 'bad'?
I was weighing the pros and cons of both, till Indy.... thanks dragon. now I have to spend another 12g's on my camaro

tho there is still a possibility of me getting a v6. it will depend on a couple things in the future.

no, there has been plenty of v-6 bashing on here. its not all out bashing, but more of an underlying whisper of conversation

The V6 is pretty much amazing in every way. Any disrespect is probably unintended or coming from an idiot.

I really think it all boils down to simple math. 426>304. 8>6. The LS3 or L99 wins every time when it comes to performance. And don't give me that "well once I put a turbo on my v6 it will make more hp" because now you are comparing apples and oranges. I'll put a turbo on my v8 and be that much more ahead. Keep reading before you v6 guys get pissed.

I for one think it speaks volumes for technological advancements that a v6 can make 300+ horsepower and get 25+ mpg. There is nothing wrong with getting a v6. I agree with every "pro" that has been written about the v6 as they are all factual. In fact I have been considering replacing my truck with a v6 Camaro because I'm not sure I want to sell my 79 z or 95 z. This route would let me keep my 'toys' and get a 5th gen as a daily driver.

The v6 is an AWESOME motor and NOTHING to take lightly. It's just not a v8.
