Side Gills ? Help Aftermark or market?
I was wondering if there is a huge difference on buying aftermarket side gills and the market ones. Please help?
Only difference i know is the price, Market being 140-150 and Aftermarket being 50-80. |

All depends on the look your going for. Correct me if im.wrong, but the OEM parts are thick, and look more like an add-on rather than simulating the cut outs. Some.aftermarket are pretty good, I personally have the faded aftermarkets on my summit white and have had a couple ppl. tell me they really thought they were cut out vents until they got right up on the car! So it really depends on the look you want. Of course the GM.parts are gonna be better quality, but the application isn't in a high stress area on the car, so it really shouldn't matter.
Love my faded gills... especially at $25!

I bought faded gills in silver. Good mod for price. The Chrome or black add ons just didn't look right for me.

Go to auto zone, buy a roll of 1/4 " pinstripe and do it yourself. About $5.00 and 90 min of your time. It looks great IF you take your time. If you mess one up, just trash it and roll of another piece. It's not hard at all.

I bought mine off of reflective concepts for $22.
Here's the link- http://www.reflectiveconcepts.com/p4...duct_info.html As long as you take your time and follow the directions they'll be fine. Don't rush it, or else your going to end up stretching them out like I did with the first strip.

I got mine from BMCustomextreme.com The reason I say OEM may be better quality is because they are a solid hard piece, not å vinyl decal that may peel off. However, at the same time, when installed, they look like a seperate rigid add-on, whereas some of the vinyl decals (like my faded set) actually look like cooling vents/slots cut into the car. Im perfectly happy with the set I purchased, and they seem to be good quality for a decal as well. Easy to apply and look realistic.

Thats exactly why I'm not going with OEM, they look like add on's. I'm getting my SLP black fade ones put on with clearshields and tint on monday. IMHO Chevy should have put true vents in the rear fenders, even if they weren't functional. I feel the same way about the mail slot.

Premium vinyl. Real easy to apply, was fairly easy to run through the plotter
