Smile Back to where I once belonged

Very first car was a hand-me-down '72 Camaro that was all beat up, but mine at 16. Now I am a proud owner of a 2011 SS. Been following the site for a while to help make my decision.

The only problem was that this site is costing much more than the price of the car thanks to all the mods that everyone likes to discuss. Decisions decisions. Looking forward to you all helping me spend some of my money.

WELCOME and ENJOY!!

Start with springs and sways. It improves the handling and takes away the "floaty" feel. Also, get a short throw shifter and CAGS bypass. Gets rid of the sloppy missed shifts and the 1-4 crap.

Next, CAI, LT headers and a catback for AWESOME sound and about a 50 hp and tq gain to the tires (skip the headers if you dont want to tune which YES it will void your engine warranty if you tune). With just CAI and exhaust with no tune, expect minimal gains but nice increase on butt dyno and the ear.

Also stainless steel brake lines are a nice add.

That about a $5k start and pretty much where I am. It's a totally different beast now.

After that, the mods get pricey...

Welcome and Congrats
I want to do mods too, but have a budget to stay within. So for it's 1st birthday I did a Rotofab cai, and Borla axleback, and oil catch can. That's all I can do right now. Next yr it will be window tint, shorty headers, short throw shifter. 2yrs after that I'll work on new wheels and tires, and enhancing the sound system. Gotta stay within my means. Whatever you decide to do, just take your time and it'll all get done eventually.

Welcome! Your story is much like my own. My first car was a '76 Camaro. It was ragged as well. But, it was all Camaro and all mine. Now after not having one for 13 years it was time for another. The 5th gen is the best one yet. Enjoy!

bobbyd, CONGRATS and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Welcome and Enjoy Congrats! Lots of great info on here. Hoping to join the club very soon if I can locate the combo IBM/Gray/Hurst. See if you can get a hold of an old copy of Camaro Now 5th Gen Only Mag. It has some great articles and info on best bang for the buck mods. Picked one up at B&N the other day that should have removed from the shelf in Jan.
Think I will do what jrhaus76 stated. Replacing the rubber bushings, sways, springs, trailing arms(have seen pics of bent stamped arms after normal street driving) and CAGS bypass will be first on my list.Have fun with your car.

Thanks. So I have started with the personalization. Clear bra very first thing I had to do and CAGS bypass. Then window tint, black out bowties and tail light bezels. Next up will be coilovers and bushings, brake lines, pads and fluids to take it to road course. The CAI and exhaust. Looking forward to taking it to the track.

Also a newbie to the forum thing and still trying to figure out how to post pics
