Back in Michigan the MSP would sometimes get Z28 4th gens and take the badging off to make them look like sixs. I'll guarantee in Arizona you'll see a six if at all. If MCSO isn't doing something outlandish probably nobody is.

After you load it down with all the equipment... It won't be any faster than a crown vic and will have less torque. Plus it's worthless for anything but an interceptor.

I highly doubt you will see any here, even with MCSO. Maybe for an undercover vehicle for special uses, but then again, you'll never be getting pulled over by it.

Aren't the Police Package Crown Vics tuned out a little different to pull a little extra power?

I haven't even seen anything that I would classify as an "interceptor" type pursuit vehicle even with DPS. I regularly pass through Gila, Gharam, Coconino and Navajo county and its usually an SUV, Crown Vic or worse.....an Impala.

Because most agencies in AZ have a zero, or limited pursuit policy. MCSO does have the most lax policy out of all the PHX area agencies... Unless it's a violent felony the subject is fleeing from, we'll just turn around and go the other way.

Suv's are nice, Crown vics are going away because ford doesn't produce their package anymore and Impalas cost 1/2 of what the suv's cost so what that's a majority of SOME are going to fleets... Even worse is the Impala's have the 3.9L V6

Not to get off topic, but for a typical V8 Crown Vic interceptor:

Engine : V8, SOHC, front engine RWD
Displacement : 4,600 cc
Valve : 16 valves, 2 valves per cylinder
Transmission : 4-spd automatic
Fuel economy : city - 16 mpg
highway - 22 mpg

Horsepower : 235 hp @ 4750 rpm (I've seen up to 250 on various sites)
Torque : 275 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm
0-60 mph : 8.7 sec.

Curb Weight : 4020 lbs

Supposedly, they are governed at 135?

I agree that the Camaro (either engine) would be bad for hauling around bad guys, etc. There was a post on here a while back about a dept. trying to sell theirs because it was pretty crappy as a duty car.

I got a feeling the W-body taken the Panther platform spot as the car that won't die because of fleet sales. At least the 3.9L in the Impala is getting replaced by the 3.6L DI, hopefully that will make it a much more adequate car just in general.

Like headers, tune... You never know, because it would have to be his own car. CnS only has two crown vics. And in a town of 1800 I know they dont have funding for a Camaro.
