Ok..I'll bite....(dangit!) lol

I'd go with the 91.

The manual says 87 or up. the car runs on 87 ok. But 94 sounds better on my catback system.

I'm running 91 now. It feels smoother, it might just be a placebo effect though.

Might be,but if the dynos are right it smoothens the power curve and adds to it. gets rid of the peaks and valleys where 87 pulls timing.

Use 93 octane peeps.

It's already been shown on this forum that a higher octane will provide a more consistent power delivery.

We have the 312hp engine here guys, not the 3800 Series 200hp V6 ...

I've been running 89 and could tell a difference from 87, I think I'll try out the 93 before the prices go through the roof.

Yeah, I just filled up with 93 from Shell. I'll only use Shell gas btw. There is some really shady gas stations around here.

I picked up my 2011 LS 6 weeks ago and from day one I ran 89 (essentially what the dealer told me to do). Well 4 days ago my buddy borrowed my car and returned it with a full tank... For 4 days the car has been so smooth and power delivery has been amazing.

I couldn't for the life of me figure it out until I asked him if he did anything to my car when he had it (cleaned my K&N or something). He says no bro just put shell premium in it for you.

If it was a placebo effect then I'm certain I wouldn't have noticed it but I am not 100% sold that it makes a huge difference in the V6. I can come off the line quicker and even 45-65 is much faster and less laggy.

Yeah I kinda thought when I switched to premium it was kinda all in my head and probably just better weather making my car feel better. When gas prices started rising in Feb I went back to 87. Car just didn't seem as alive I did 2 tanks on 87 and stayed the same. Went back to 93 in warmer weather and my car went back to having that extra pep, so I am convinced that 93 DOES make a difference. I am not totally certain about gas mileage as I have started to use my a/c more due to heat and my mileage is about 2 less with it.

Yea, thats the nice thing about the 6 we can run 87 or higher, so when gas prices jumped to 3.50 a gallon I just dropped back to 87. I really miss the pep of the higher grade, but thats ok and can drive my car.

These engines respond well to cold weather and higher octane gas.

Ok, I can no longer lurk and read all these postings. I have LT with a manual. I have always felt that the car was touchy on taking off in first gear. Have killed it often. "ya, and don't post that I am a crappy driver." But I can testify that when I went from 87 Octane with ethenol to 91 Octane the takeoff in first gear became alot more forgiving and responsiveness thru the gears also feels more robust.

So put in whatever you want, its your cars, and your money but this is one test that you can each run for yourselves without damaging anything. After that you can speak from a position of experience.

Have fun guys, and enjoy these great cars.
