Pricing yes, but I have Ingen that works and I just bought. And 25 dyno hp on a v6 that I havent seen on any v8,without the ram air effect above 60 worth estimate of 5-10 at 100 mph+ based on what I learned on the 4th gens seems high. I will wait and see on future tests and independent results. I am not doing the airaid thing again.
But if all true and I hope it is this would be the mother of all intakes! |

I'm confused on the availability and pricing.... from their website it looks like $399 and available now, but is that just a pre-order? Or are you talking about the group buy?
Also, the numbers on this look pretty good, but I'm still a little curious on the risk of getting water in the intake. I know it's way less then the long-tube intakes, but what about rain? I saw you had driven it in some showers without problems, but would heavy rain pose a serious threat? |

For fun I took this dyno graph and compared to JRE's Injen, different dynos and all but for fun. A6 trans vs the M6 here.
2500 to 6500 rpm in 500 rpm increments. For all practicality they are the same except from 6000 on up the vararam made more, or the stock pull fell off more(?) Of course no ram effect on dyno and yet to be proven in speed tests to 100+mph. Also unknown if Injen has any ram effect where it pulls in air(doubt if much or any) |

Just waiting on Vararam to release the info. I know Patrick had some stuff he planned to take care of on Friday afternoon (things like ensuring enough extra inventory of small parts needed for the intake - gaskets, clamps, hoses, etc...) but we spent more time on the dyno that day than originally planned. He also needed to verify if the small change he made to go from 272hp to 276hp was going to require any adjustments to the production tooling for that particular piece.
I know he also planned to spend some more time reviewing the data logs from all the dyno runs to see if there was anything left on the table that he could get at. He was targeting 280hp originally, so if he can find it, he will.

From working with Vararam, I've learned quite a bit about the V6 engine and Bosch E38 computer. For people that say this computer doesn't learn or doesn't need learn time between changes, they are wrong. I've had numerous prototype designs on my car and can tell you that a single 1mm change in one part is noticed by the computer and affects performance. Simple things, such as the position of the mass air flow sensor, both in it's clock position on the tube (9 o'clock at the moment) and the depth it is set at within the tube can dramatically alter timing, fuel trims, and MAF scaling. The work that Vararam has done is pretty much using the intake to 'tune' the car without actually having to go in with a computer and alter the settings. You'll appreciate this if you like your warranty.
The ECM reacts to all of the various changes and eventually optimizes the fuel and timing then stores it in long term memory. It takes miles of various gears, RPMs, and loads for the ECM to optimize the settings. Going from stock to this intake does require learn time and you will notice your car getting stronger as it learns the new intake. It was the same with when JRE did the previous intake comparison. You'll remember that he put miles on the test car between each intake so the ECM could learn. Your cars will require this too, just like mine did. Doing back to back dyno runs without learn time is a waste of money. Patrick made sure through data logging that enough miles were put on the car between intake changes to ensure that each dyno run represented what the car was actually capable of with that particular intake. Just thought I'd pass along that info so that people actually follow the install instructions and put the required miles on their car before trying to do before/after dyno comparisons.
