2 in 2 out or pair of glass packs? Exhaust input needed
I would like to build my own low cost cat back and here is what I am thinking.
1---Install a pair of 2 1/2in glass packs right behind the h-pipe with straight pipe 2 1/2 to the back or 2---Install a single 2in 2out flowmaster, magna flow or whatever fits with straight pipe 2 1/2 to the back Found one video of the 2in 2out behind the h-pipe sounded pretty good. I guess I am looking for input on the glass packs could be a simpler install. They always sounded good to me behind a v-8 |

Don't do it, the stock system is really good, the only gains are the sound of the exhaust and weight. you might a 1-3 hp gain or you might get a decrease in HP, The guys that have changed there exhaust have gone with the MRT systems. if you what to change your system I would go get one of the already designed setups.

Cost vers effect 1-3hp incress or possible loss sounds on track with every system. I am completely after sound on this mod. So if there is a chance to get the sound and I wouldn't have to spend a ton on a system that would rock.
I completely agree that the stock system is gonna be tuff to beat performance wise without doing headers and cats. That is way out of budjet for me right now. |

When I originally started looking I wanted the glasspacks to match the old-school like I have on the '68. I went with the v8 CherryBomb catback(unfortunately it doesn't have the CherryBomb glasspacks but a pair of short turbo-style) and it was a good setup but when I went with the headers the sound increased a ton and it got a highway drone that was annoying on long trips. Since then I put in a pair of short glasspacks(works like a resonator) and a pair of cutouts for when I head to the track.
If you do decide to go with the glasspacks let me know how it comes out. After listening to the exhaust of the guy who recently did a muffler delete I think the glasspacks will be decent and not run you a ton of cash.

For what I want to do for tail pipes the stock crash cans must go and I won't be able to use any muffler behind the axle. Kinda think I will do glass packs and see what happens. But still looking for input as this mod is a few weeks away.

It's still loud but I'm no longer causing a disturbance in the am when I get my coffee in the am.

I wanted to do glass packs too, but decided on the muffler delete instead when I found the pipes/tips i needed on the internet - Pypes Exhaust. Price was right and they were already bent to spec - made especially for 2010/2011 Camaros. It is loud, still gives the popping/crackling noise (reminds me of glass packs), which I like and I don't hear any droning. Once you get into 6th gear it really settles down so as not to interfere with phone calls or the neighbors (LOL).

This is a v6 section lol but I think muffler delete is the way to go! Especially on the v8 because my 6 sounded sick with the delete. Now it sounds like a gtr
