My new rims/tires have arrived!
TSW Nurburgring 18x8 (35mm offset), 18x9.5 (40mm offset), matte gunmetal Nitto 555, 265/50-18 and Nitto 555R, 305/45-18 - these maintain the stock height. Special order (very good price) from (not listed on their site, but here's the 20" version): http://bestwheeldeals.com/2010_CAMARO_DEALS_20_4.html Here's the kicker: Fronts weigh 50.5 lbs each vs. 62.3 lbs stock. Rears weigh 53.5 lbs each vs. 68 lbs stock. Sweet. Only thing required to mount is get rid of the roller skate front brake pads (you can replace them or chop off just the roller skates). Sorry no pics mounted yet. I'm away for a conference next week and want to use the stock rims/tires/brake pads for my 12 hour round trip. But next week, I'll mount them up, and weather permitting, I'll get back to the track with these being the only difference. So we'll see how they hook and how I do with a 1.7 or 1.8 sixty-foot. Padre

Wheels on and ready to race!
I'll be heading to Steele, AL on Sunday afternoon to see how these new rims/DRs hook up! Padre

But that'll make a good series of videos: me slowly catching up to you month by month. Then when I finally catch up with you, you just put on drag radials and it's back to the drawing board for me. I am really looking forward to Sunday. Should be a beautiful day for racing. Padre |

Update on the rims today:
The long and short of it: 84*F, not a great day for good times. 12.986 @ 107.51, sixty-1.964. 107.xx traps on all 7 time slips. Good thing: the Nittos hooked each and every time (1.9 sixties all day). They were almost saying to me, "ho hum". Even with a brake-stall, no improvement simply because I do not have enough power to propel it to more than a 1.9 (on a hot day). Everybody at the track digged the wheels, though. So, I'm thinking this combo will really shine when I get the gears (3.45's) and the torque converter. But any day racing is a good day. Padre

And the videos...
Here we are at the track today (Steele, AL - 84*F). A very interesting 2011 Porsche Panamera running 11's vs. a Twin-Turbo Z06 on street tires, and another race against my friend's modded GT500. Oh, and a video of me on my new drag rims. Enjoy! Padre |

No racing this weekend, so I installed my gille inserts or "Side Vent Shadow". These came from The Camaro Decal Store. Simple and easy to install, inexpensive.
http://camarodecalstore.com/SIDE-VEN...OW-SVS-110.htm Mine are probably unique in IOM, but I think it works. Padre

Well, the JBA Mid-Pipes with High-Flow Cats gave me 2 mph and 0.15 ET. Advertised, they are +20hp, so 2 mph is about dead on as advertised. Nice job, JBA!
Fun day back at Steele. Same temps as last time, about 84* ambient. Previous Best (in 84*+ heat): 12.986 @ 107.51, sixty-1.964 New Best (in 84*+ heat): 12.843 @ 109.38, sixty-1.956 Here's my run against a 1967 Camaro SS 383, lightly modded. Neither of us was planning on a pro-tree and that was the difference. L99: 12.935 @ 109.46 383: 12.966 @ 110.81. RT: .798 vs. .699, '67 wins. That was the theme of the day: always check to see what tree you're running, sportsman or pro, and it also helps to check if you're running the 1/8th or the 1/4. So what happened was this: 90% of the cars there today were 1/8th mile pavement pounders, trapping 30mph+ in the 1/8th what I trap in the 1/4. So I bashfully chose the left lane each time (they prep the right for slicks), and had fun. Some guys did want to line up, including an '00 Camaro LS1 with cams and gears (turned out to be 1/8th mile gears). The results are a bit of... oops! I got 26 mpg on the way home. And rolled past 3000 miles. Another fun day racing. Padre
