Took me a while, since this is the most powerful car I've ever owned. Previous cars were smaller and much less powerful.

I guess "getting used to it" all depends on how you drive. I drive like a nut, and need to know how the car will react in all circumstances or I can't drive like I want to!

Cheers

I have only been driving a stick since last October, when I bought and taught myself on my little '86 Accord. It's a cable tranny, and I have only in the last months really started to get to the point where I know the engagement points and can do correct rev-matching during a downshift and stuff like that. Still haven't been able to do smooth shifts from 1-2 or 2-3 in the Camaro, I always seem to be letting up on the gas or clutch just a hair too fast and causing my passenger's heads to rock a bit.

Course, I also need to get an aftermarket exhaust and CAI because compared to the Accord, the Camaro is basically whispering till you hit the higher revs, and I like to hear my engine doing its thing.

I am still not comfortable with the front blind spots around curbs. But besides that I feel that I am totally used to how the car handles with TC on. I stopped burning my clutch randomly about 2 months in. That could be due to the clutch itself breaking in though.

So I guess 2 months to stop feeling like I was going to break the thing somehow.

Yeah when I test drove my Camaro (bought same one I test drove) I was being extra cautious taking it down a 2 lane road as I really couldn't judge anything in it. After I readjusted everything and drove it for a good couple of weeks, I was used to it.

I'd say it took me around 2 or 3 months to get used to the car. But this is my first car and I was previously driving my dad's infinity g37 sedan so I had a lot to adjust to. 6 months seems a little long though

The only thing that I had to get use to was the "blind spots". Once that was taken care of it was "DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!"

Took about 100 miles to start getting used to the clutch. I killed it a couple times and was so embarrassed that I learned it quickly. As far as the blind spots go,,,, what is behind me does not matter lol! And if I think there is someone in my blind spot I just punch it so when I make the lane change nobody is there.

After about 1 week things got better. I agree that the car definately wants to follow road ruts. Blind spots: I don't DARE cozy up to anything on my right side yet. This isn't a little ecobox you just jump in and go. Fun beast though!

Having had a number High Performance Cars in the past it still is going to be a real butt kicker going back and forth from our only vehicle at the present, a Mini GoKart to an SS.
