What I would give to put a current version 3800 V6 L32 in a car the size of a G35 and see how much fun it would be in a RWD configuration....

Hehehehe

edit...modified G? well, thats not fair to a stock musclecar around a track now, is it?

I think a stock G37 will beat up an RT Challenger on any road course. In fact any performance situation. The advantage is that you can get way more out of the Challys V8.

while i cant say first hand what my car is like on a road course, i have talked with fellow R/T guys that have had theirs on one and each were really surprised with how well the big car handled itself and said its quite toss-able once you get used to the weight. while the R/Ts suspension isnt setup for this kind of use, those have have just added beefier sway bars (like those found on the SRT) have said that helps dramatically. the brakes however have much to be desired and really would benefit with Brembos.

of course its not going to handle like a sports car. thats not what it is. its not going to handle like a vintage musclecar either. remember the LC platform (which is a modified version of the LX platform) is based off the previous E-class chassis so its got some European, "touring car" handling in its dna. while there is no question its girth hurts it in the turns, its really not a bad handler for its size. i'd bet it would feel good on a wide open, sweeping road course and i really cant see a stock G being able to keep up.

Lightning Lap from Car and Driver, at Mazda Laguna Secaway I believe. Keep in mind the SRT8 Challenger is much quicker around a racetrack than a comparable R/T.

thats pretty impressive but thats just one track and that SRT challenger was probably an auto (just a guess though). its a good gauge and shows its not a musclecar's favorite place to be . i dont know my road courses, but is Leguna Seca a wide open course or twisty?

and that cobalt kicked some ass! #60...look at some of the cars it beat

This thread has turned out to be hilarious. In my own experience an RT pulled up to me at the light the other day. Lets just say that was the last time i saw him..LOL. Until i pulled into the Target p lot when he caught up. We chatted a bit , he had exhaust and cold air, still didnt matter, bottom line he had less power and more weigth= he lost..

Here is a quote from a Chysrler/dodge dealership owner who had been in buisness for 35 years when they were doing the shut downs a couple years back. "The only reason Dodge/Chrysler isnt at the very bottom of consumer reports is because GM currently occupies that position".

However, having said that. My Durango is the worst vehicle i have ever owned. Sure now that 80% of the electronics have been replaced along with a fuel and water pump (80k miles so far)..and me deciding that rear turn signal panel box is going to short out EVERY TIME its replaced.... its not "too bad" but i will NEVER touch a Dodge again.

Funny, all my CHrysler vehicles have been and more reliable than my GMs and even my Fords. that said the service where i bought it at sucked, but they were also a Ford dealership........

I've never had bad service at either of my dodge dealerships, and one is partnered up with a ford dealership. I have heard of some bad service at other places, but hell, I've heard of crappy service at chevy, bmw and mbz around the md/va/dc area. shitty service can happen anyplace.

gmrlz, if you're ever up at the MIR track, let me know, I'll run you for fun, but the bottom end isn't stock anymore...and she's not an RT. I'll try and make it down your way one of these days and give you some notification I'm coming. But it'll need to be a private track rental.....I'm not caged and the sanctioning folks frown on it.

I don`t make it up there often, no cage for me either. I run in a spring track rnetal and a fall track rental, where they are somewhat lax on the safety requirements. The next one is april 29th if you would like to come down. I`ll pm you details.

Yep, my point was it is the dealership that is crappy or not, Chrysler usually has nothing to with it. THe CHvy dealership where I bought a few used GMs, (my Roadmaster and Caprice), was excellent.......... Until a larger dealership (owns Ford, Toyota, Mazda, Mistsu, and Nissan dealerships) took over, then it went downhill.ame location, just different owners.

Actually...

The guys my Dodge are cool as hell. They know me and always take care of me. And currently the old durango is very reliable. It was replacing all the 2005 electonics that soured me.

The Ford people are nice enough, talkative and they are happy to show me things. The interior guy even had me help him when i had to replace one of the lighted door sills etc etc.

Nissan wins though. They are top notch professional and take care of my problems. Im in and out and they go the extra mile to get my car done even when i dont have an apt (service contract there), which is more than i can say for ford wheni had a service contract with them.
