Auntie Em, It's a Twister!!

Oh the Humanity of it all!

Call, the Marines, Call a Lawyer, Call Me Irresponsible! But Call me! Call me anything but late for dinner!

Geez, lt's all get into an uncontrolled lather about this. It needs to be handled between the OP and his dealer....... As an earlier poster stated, perhaps there was a very valid reason for the Dealer to take the car out and test it to make sure everything worked as it should.

Good Heavens, this sound so much like everyone who got into a fit about how many miles were on their car at delivery. Anyone remember the Quality Holds? The Striping drives? etc.

Comparing this to how many miles were on the car at delivery is comparing apples to oranges. When your car arrives at the dealer, you usually still have the right to inspect and refuse delivery for any reason. So, if you order a car and they present it for delivery and it has x amount of miles on it, you can walk away. Same thing with buying off the lot - don't like the amount of miles on the one you want, walk away.

In this situation, The OP owns the car already. He has no choice but to accept whatever they did to it. He can't just choose a different car. It is possible to irreversibly damage a car in 67 miles, unlikely, but possible. What happens if he needs a new clutch or engine in the next 6 months or so?

And, OP, the line about driving around until the light goes red sounds like a load of crap to me. At the very least, a good service department would ask or tell you up front that excessive miles may need to be driven to diagnose the problem.

I talked o the service manager this morning and he tried to tell me that he sent his porter out to keep driving the car till the onstar light turned red again.
The car doesn't need to be driven to check for onstar, just needs to be outside & running.

Nice try! He is so full of shit that I don't know what to do. I actually think the paint shop did it but that is still the dealers responsibilty and the painter is denying till the end. Have you guys ever heard of a service guy driving a car that far to see if "the problem" happens again? I asked to talk to the porter that drove the car but coencidently he's off today. Big surprise. I'm going to get a GM rep involved, this is ridiculous.

I would say its pure BS. There are 24 Onstar satellites that each orbit the earth twice a day. All they need to do is park your car anywhere outside and eventually you will pick up a signal from one of the sats. You dont need to be driving for 67 miles.

It's a forum. If the Op wanted it to be between the dealer and him he wouldn't have posted it here. Oh and I bet you would be singing a different tune if they took your camaro for a 67mile joy ride.

Same thing happen to me when I dropped my car of to get my front rims repainted cuz they scratched one of them the day before when I was getting my oil change. I was so Instead of just fixing the one that had the damage the painted both the front rims. They didn't even match the rears that well. Anyways when I went to go pick it up they had put 50 miles on my car. At first I didnt realize as I was too focused on the repair but when I was about to leave I also realized that my car was missing half a tank of gas. I didn't get a chance to say anything as I was in a rush to get some where that day. Then a couple days later I received a follow up call to see if I was satisfied with the the service I received. I told the lady exactly what happen and how mad I was. I wasn't satisfied with the repair either. So she contacted the Service Manger and he told me to bring in the car and that they would make things right. I ended up getting two brand new front rims with brand new tires. They also gave me a full tank of gas and washed and detailed my car for me. I was still a bit upset but at least they tried to make things right. What I don't get is how did my car get those extra 50 miles? I still don't know.

Yes, I realize it is a forum. I am just pointing out that a lot of peopel are getting worked up into a lather over something like this. And actually, I trust my dealer to do what is necessary to fix my care and maintain it the way I want. So if they took it out and put 67 miles on it. I would not have a problem with that.

It is a matter of trust. That is why I was very careful about the dealer with whom I did business in the first place.

Either way, I would encourage the OP to deal directly with the dealer. Muc like everyone else here, I have an opinion. I am not attacking people, but taking a somewat more tempered approach top the situation. We have gotten to a socialogocal point in this country where we seem to want to overreact to everything. Again, just my opinion.

What i get worked up about is greed, crime, murder, people suffering because of the economy. In light of those kinds of problems, this is relatively minor.

I am sure that there will be a positive result in this kind of situation if cooler heads prevail.

60 HARD miles with the tach bumping against the rev limiter and the rubber being burned off the tires. Yeah...that would bother me... Not to make the original OP worry or anything.

OP, I feel bad for you man, its a feeling of private invasion. Just be firm, don't let them take advantage of you. Don't be a prick, just be confident & secure about the fact that you didn't like what you noticed. After all, you paid for the car, you should know what the heck happened when you dropped it off. Its your right to know what happened and someone in authority should make you feel "okay" with what did/did not happen.

Good luck.
