So....I'm paying $500 extra just for orange inserts in the seats instead of grey, beige or black? I'd say thats a bit excessive...
All I wanted to do was get away from that FUGLY blue lighting, and now I'm going to have to rethink my whole color scheme or go down to a 1SS to get away from the blue ambient OR wait...and wait..and wait...all over again for next years model and whatever they add/change to sweeten the deal. Maybe its GM's way of preventing the price from dropping $6000 like the challenger did.

Umm... no... actually, you don't have to do anything. You ordered orange, so you will be getting orange ambient lighting. The end.

If I had the time, I would go back and quote everyone who told me to shut up about ABL rumors.

That said, if this is confirmed to be 100% true, this was probably the final straw. I'd rather hold out for a completely finished car with a full ABL, HUD, kinks worked out, green paint possibly...hell, if they can't get a light to go across the dash what else aren't they telling us about? I can't shell out 40k for a car in this economy if they can't put in a lighting system correctly.

They kept us in the dark for four months(this issue was brought up almost four months ago) and in that time they couldn't get a light to go across the dash. That's pathetic GM. Lighting in the dash. Come on now. And you didn't even have the guts to tell us you were bailing and giving us "doors-only", which is an escape route that saves you the trouble of having to say you failed on ABL.

I for one is disappointed that ABL is limited to the door, ABL was one of the big reasons I choose the 2LT over the 1LT.

But I want to throw out a thought....

GM just announced it will not be in the dash. We have seen a video where it worked in the dash (Dubai). The rumor is that the ABL causes overheating and warping of the dash. With less than 30 days from start of production, does it make any sense that they could re-engineer and change the tooling for the dash without ABL? Could it be that the ABL in the dash is going to be installed and just not connected (i.e. permantely unlit)? I just don't think they could retool the dash to get rid of the ABL in a few months, let alone 30 days.
If it is there but disconnected, maybe someone could reconnect it, yeah might void the warranty, but it could work???
Just a crazy thought.

I am so mad right now! The gas cap is now on the other side of the car; not chrome and not on TOP of the fender, the mail slot isn't functional, the rear brake slits aren't open, the stripes are too short, the shark fin is ugly, it doesn't transform into a robot with a plasma cannon arm, I can get the Halos for 100 bucks off ebay and now ABL isn't on the dash!!

This is nothing like what I expected!!!

PS: You know that the Challenger doesn't have the opening hood scoops when you press the gas like the concept did? Sometimes things change from the beginning to the end.
Learn to adapt to changes

And if it makes you feel any better, at least you aren't buying a toyota that's gonna get recalled for flaming seatbelts
