Agreed. People still have to look down at the regular radio, for example, to select songs off their iPod. Also, navigation is offered on nearly every other GM model as does its competition. So, are you implying you want the other models to be less safe? I don't think so in the least. The lack of navigation is frankly the only thing I'm amazed to not see as an option yet.

That is sweet looking, only thing i dont like is the stripe but it will probably grow on me. It reminds me of like the pace car it has sertain stuff that make it different then the others yet more colectable.

Also, using the windshield mount and plugging in power to a phone/GPS is tedious. I always expect to be the victim of a smash & grab, so every time I park I stow my electronics. And in-dash nav would eliminate this tedium. As for the dangers associated with looking down at a NAV screen, I do see fbodfather's concern. I think the popup NAV in the CTS is one solution (perhaps where the center speaker grill is?). Another very high-tech option could be to use a color HUD and project a simplified map on the windshield. Not oversimplified as OnStar does now, but maybe a basic streets view in red and the route/speedometer in blue. Again, I just feel a map view is inherently better. Devon, we've had street signs for a few years now. Their clarity and ease of use are major reason why GPS and NAV are so popular.

Im so glad they listened to the complaints about the passenger seat issue. Looks like I might be getting into a camaro again. I wonder what the pricing will be. Hopefully its reasonable and not out of my price range. So does the 2012 model year still come with the ABL door lighting?

If one were to remove the IP panel -- you would find that there is zero space to put in a 'pop-up' Nav Screen.

[QUOTE=Libertyforall1776;3093614]But WHY would anyone need to look *down*? They don't have to in the CTS, and the Camaro should be no different -- popup works for me for a touchscreen (a little bigger screen might be nice, though):
![]() ![]() I have test driven the CTS Coupe and the navigation screen is very easy to see and use. This type of system should easily fit into a reconfigured Camaro dash. However the navigation option, which includes a 40GB hard drive among other goodies, costs over $2,100 (comes standard in the "Premium" trim). A decision was probably made to keeps costs low, which is why the Camaro interior is rather "light" on technology when compared to other vehicles in the $25,000-$35,000 price range. |
