I thought I'd be good yesterday and get some outdoor exercise on a beautiful day. I took a bicycle down the bike path further than I had gone before and .... the left pedal fell off and I couldn't find the bolt that holds it on. I walked miles with the bike to get home. I took a short cut through a field and half way through I found there was a lot of standing water so my shoes got soaked.

After getting home, resting a bit and changing my shoes, I took a drive in the Camaro. Scorpions, Metallica and Great White were playing from my jump drive. All was better.

Friday I expect there will be cars at the Beavercreek cruise-in. I might go to look but not to show.

Saturday I'll be doing some shooting again. This time I'll be trying a variety of handguns. I see there is a gun show at Dayton's Hara arena Saturday but I doubt I'll be making this one.

There are gun shows scheduled 8/13-8/14 and 10/15-10/16 at the Wilmington conference center where we've met at Max & Ermas. Perhaps we should have a Camaro Max & Ermas meeting one of those gun show weekends.

Can anyone help me with a couple questions? This is going to be my first autocross and I was wondering if I should sign up before hand on the site, or just go there early around 9 930. And where should I get my helmet from, or can I use helmet's from there? Thanks!!

If you want to participate register before hand. You will need to bring you own helmet. Jegs carries various brands, or most other performance shops. OR is you know you size, order one online.

Also, do you have any aftermarket mods? I ask because they will place you into a street modified class, and they will eat you alive if you haven't modded a lot. You could get away with swapping parts from an SS because is consider and OEM option swap.

Not to questions Tony's vast knowledge of CincySCCA BUT...

I never register before hand. Just register when you get there. Make sure you are on time. It would save you like 5 bucks but I look at it this way... If I wake up Sunday and dont want to go, I wasted more then the $5 by waiting.

Second, they used to have tons of helmets to use. I always used the loaners. I now have a helmet. Just make sure its the right SNELL rating. Check on SCCA website. www.cincyscca.org

Third, I emailed them last week about my car... as most of you know, its pretty modded... BUT it still runs F Stock... per the email, its F Sock until you change the tires. If you run street tires your "stock". I am not sure what class a V6 is in. It very well could be F stock as so is the IROC... Don't let that bother you, these are not autocross cars... I don't expect very good times. Its not a "power" track, its a handling track. Expect to get your ass handed to you by the Miatas.

Finally... who cares if your stock or modded, we are all novice so were going to get eaten alive anyhow.

I am still not 100% what car i am bringing. They said the IROC would actually give the new SS a run for the money!

Meh. Better to get the reg out of the way, then you dont have to wait in line. They have helmets but its a limited number that you have to reserve. Goin with what I know from Ohio Valley Region. In OVR your car would be in the Street Touring class Jason. With stickier rubber you'd get bumped to the Street Prepared.

I found this page on that site:
http://www.cincyscca.com/ncl.html
That's the novice checklist.

It says they have loaner helmets.

Also, here is their helmet info page if you want to get one: http://www.soloracer.com/helmettech.html

Wait, you have no cats right? How can you run F stock with no cats? You have to be OE height, and front sway bar is only allowed. This is a national rule book by the way. If they let you run with that then they are being lenient.

Thanks a lot for the answers guys, they're really helpful. I think I'll just arrive there around 8 30 or so to register and use a loaner helmet. My car is 100 % stock by the way, down to the paper air filter (still saving up), so I'm pretty sure I'll be in F stock and will get my ass handed to me as this is my first autocross.

All I have to go by is the email that they sent me. Could they be wrong? Yes... But that was the information I was given. I will say that the people I emailed were not SCCA but the solo chair. They really didn't know jack about the car. They had to look it up and called it a Comaro... ... I was doubting what they said but eh, whatever. I'm only going to have fun. I'm still not 100% sure ... A, that I'll even go and B, what car I will take. It's all up to the weather and if the wife wants to run, watch or stay at home.

Well it seems depending on how competitive the region is, some mods are overlooked. Then whats the point of having the classes? So confusing. But no stock cats is a definite big no no.

Well, your supposed to be in GS, but some are running FS. They let the new stang and genesis run in FS so they're letting us as well, don't know if it'll change or not officially.

Well I will say it's very hard to tell my car is catless. The midpipes look just like the hiflow cats. But by what you say, that would bump me too. Eh, whatever... It is what it is...
