TPW 3/14/2011

My car was delivered late last night. I have a picture but can't upload from my phone. It still has all of the plastic wrap on it. They are trying to prep it so I can take it home today.

Well done Mr. Morris. I like the fact that you monitor this board. There are several folks on this particular thread that have had new Camaro produced the week of 3/14. Their cars have been sitting in Oshawa since produced that week. Maybe they could just PM you and you can help them out. Thanks very much.

Mine had a TPW of 3-21 and was made on 3-23. It too has been sitting in Oshawa since 3-23.

I finially got an e-mail from my dealer who got an e-mail from someone in tranportation...... This is what was sent to me today.

This Camaro was caught up in the Allied Truck issue. It is not being held by Allied, but the entire issue has created some "abnormalities" in the shipping process. It was transported to an "off-lot" . It will get shipped when they get these "off-lot" vehicles re-entered into the shipping process. We've not been given a date as of yet. We're hoping it will become "normal" by the end of this month. I will check with Logistics on this vehicle....stay tuned.

So, it wasn't 'held hostage', but it sounds as though it got sent to a temp lot somewhere because of the strike, and has never left that 'temp' lot yet.

WTF??

How long is it going to take to get past the Allied strike issues ???

What ever happened to a FIFO method where they ship out the cars in the order they are built / ready? I'm in TPW 3/21 and still waiting as well with you some of you from 3/14, but yet some 3/28's have already gotten their verts... WTF?

Also, my dealer keeps telling me it is just waiting to be unloaded from the rail car, but I have a feeling he doesn't have a clue where my car really is.

Good question.
My own guess is that while my car wasn't 'held hostage', It ended up being stored in some sort of temp lot because during the strike, they continued producing cars, but they had no way to ship them till things with Allied got settled or they were able to find alternate methods of shipping, so they had to find a place to temporarly stash them.
Once they found ways to ship cars again, the shipping of cars coming off the line started up again, but somebody 'forgot' that they had these others cars stored in the temp lot.
Now they have to get thier act together and address those cars that got forgotten in 'the lot that shipping forgot'.
It wouldn't surprise me that if I hadn't continued to press my dealer to find out why my car was still in Oshawa 3 weeks after it was made, that they would have forever forgotten about those cars.
In my opinion, those cars in 'The Lot That Shipping Forgot' should get priority shipping now at the very least.

At first my dealer tried to give me some song and dance that prhaps it was held over for a QC inspection.

It may just be something to get me to drop my other request of the dealer, but I just received this response:

I talked to the DBC today. They said it should be loaded on a rail car TODAY. It “SHOULD” be here by the end of next week. I can only transfer the info I have been given. It will be here soon. Thanks again for your patience. I will contact you as soon as I hear something.

Went to 4200 again yesterday, even got an email from the dealer. He said he thinks it is on a train, but that they don't give Rail Car Numbers to him anymore.
