Internet Car Shopping

What is the best way to buy a car over the internet or just get quotes from different dealers? I am totally new to this and not sure what site to go to, thanks for the help.

Sadly, your dealer is probably telling the truth when they say you won't get the best price until you're ready to sign. They want to see a buyer, and that means that you have to be ready to buy and in the showroom.

the best thing to do is go and test drive the vehicle (optional) the point is to make sure they know youre serious about the purchase sit down, get a price then shop around calling other dealers, bargaining until you get a price youre comfortable with. This was my experience anyways

I did test drive a vehicle and problem is there are no other cars near me with same paint and options. Car stickers at $38,800 and they came down to $37,300. According to Truecar that is a pretty good price, I would like to think I could get it down some more. I suppose it I make an offer that is stupid low the worst they can say is "no"!

I was in a similar situation as u were, had the paint and options but i wanted a manual trans on a vert which was tough to find. Check carlocate.com to see if you find anything thats on the lot. Call the dealer and confirm the model if you see it on the site and get the price. I'd say your best bet is to put in an order, the wait is painful but at least you get what you want on the vehicle and your not settling. The premium you pay is that if u DO find the car your going to have to pay the dealer what he wants most likely whereas if you order u go with the dealer giving you the lowest price. Talk to as many dealers as you can you'll learn a great deal about pricing and you should be able to figure out a good price.

This is how I did it. All by Internet. YMMV.

Your only going to get them to go so low. Find the car you want. Go into the dealership. Test drive it and say i'm interested in the car but it all comes down to money. Work them as hard as you can on the price of the car. Once you have a decent price then work on them more about the sure to be inflated garbage fees. Such as "dealer fee" Lots of places try to charge hundreds of dollars on this and it's 100% profit.

I suppose all the advice for going to the dealership is sound but please remember once you're there they will try to get you to fall in love with the car and not the price. We're already in love with the car but you know what I mean. Using the Internet and emails as I did enabled me to determine which dealership simply wanted to get me to fall in love with the car (six of them) and those that really wanted to sell me a car (3 of them). Regardless, good luck to you whichever approach you take.
