I am quite devastated to say, I wounded my baby today.
![]() ![]() :(After having him just over 1 month, and taking extremely cautious care of him, I went for a quick trip to the pet store today, (after spending 3 hours detailing the car), and I backed into a spot away from any other cars, and had bushes on the driver's side, so decreased the risk of other cars dinging me or parking too close. Once I was in the spot, I had my passenger get out, to see if I was back far enough, (I am still learning the lengths on this car), and she said I was very close to the pole behind me, so I went to shift the car into First gear, then proceeded to let off the clutch while trying to give it just enough gas to move, (I was completely unaware of the downward slope that the back end was on), and as soon as I went to give it more gas, instead of going forward, it quickly rolled the couple inches backwards to the pole and "BANG". it was over. I couldn't open my eyes. I didn't want to breathe. I shoo'd my 2 passengers to go into the shop without me, I was about to have a meltdown and implode at the same time. One of them actually said, "what happened?? I told you you were close!?". and then continued to say, "You're not going to like what you see." Seriously?? fyi: Pick your statements more wisely when dealing with me, especially in a state of rage and rapidly increasing overwhelming regret/sadness. Anyways, I just sat in the car for a moment, reviewing what had just taken place, and wanting to kick the crap out of something. I finally took off my sunglasses and got out of the car, and slowly walked around to the back of the car, there it was, in all it's glory, a nice shiner. There was still some cement rubble sticking to my bumper, and the best description I can give, (since I haven't taken a legitimate photo yet, beside my crappy cell phone), is like somebody took a cheese grater to it right where the butt end comes to a point. *approx. size of damaged space = 2 inches wide, by about 1 inch tall.* Mostly paint damage and undercoat, but I can see if I look from above, that there is a small dent off-center to the point. I broke down, this is my baby, I've been wanting for many many years, and have searched diligently for over a year for this one specifically, and there I went, and dinged my kid. So much for having a clear record, and all original/factory paint and everything. I hate myself right now, even though I didn't have much control over the incident that occurred really. I need to go to sleep, I have been in a total depressed-mode ever since. :( ![]() Will post a photo tomorrow probably. Thanks for reading, just had to vent. *SIGH*. **any suggestions on where to take it, prices to fix something like this, or how to go about dealing with this would be much apprciated.** ![]() Thx.

every parent's child gets hurt from time to time. its the parents skill and patience (and a good [car] doctor) that make everything all better.

Can't afford to mod, let alone, repair.
Can't stand to have it look imperfect for any Length of time, I take soo much pride in this Car, I am just very upset at the whole situation. I just bought it the first week of march, To 'ladybug', that's very sad to hear, I hope you Get it fixed like new, and it doesn't set you back Too bad. Thanks for the replies guys, I am trying To figure the best and quickest way to make it Like it never happened, I just know I will have A hard time getting over it after investing so much Into actually getting this car, to have this happen So soon after acquiring my dream. It's a bit Bit of a blow to take in.

hey man I know how you feel, my car was sideswiped and im still going through issues with that. As much as it sucks, just remember that it is fixable and having a repainted rear bumper is not bad at all. Dont sweat it too much, even though thats easier said then done. She can be fixed and she will look great if you bring her to a good shop.
Try to catch some sleep. Sorry to hear that but shell look great soon enough

It does suck that 1st and R are right next to each other on the LS/LTs. A tip though, check your DIC when parking to make sure there isn't the big "R" for reverse. I don't think you'll do this again, though. Sucks, but it's fixable.

There's always going to be a first one, no matter how much care you try to take with it.
I went a whole year without getting ran into at a light, backed into(lots of close calls with the blind old floridian women) or t-boned somehow. I wound up halfway ripping the front end off from parking too far over a curb. Eventually it's going to get you, atleast now you're safer. And unless the damage is too bad, you may as well continue to drive it. When people see your car they say "hey look a camaro" not "whoa look at the big scratch on the rear of it".

I'm sorry it happened, but don't worry about it. If you use something, it is going to get little wounds. It makes the car no less enjoyable to drive, and when time and money permit, get it repaired.
You do not need to make yourself sick over it. Just breathe, and enjoy the car! |

I'm sorry to hear about your car, however I can truly feel your frustration..as I've been there.
However, I will say this to you..... Rule #1 - never back into a parking spot in these cars....ever. I just won't take that chance, and your story is exactly why. I learned this lesson watching others back into spots. I won't do it.
