I really think most users will see very similar performance between the two at the end of the day. I would say pick the one that has the price and look you like best.

Hey guys I just had a few questions hopefully someone can help me with. I didn't want to start a thread as I'm sure it's been covered before.

1) Will a cai void the warranty and if it will is there any way they would know I had one on if I put the stock one back on before I took it in for service (like would the diagnostics show it)?

2) I saw the scoop that you can pair with the cai and I was wondering what the odds of sucking up puddle water through it were?

3) With the plexiglass top on it are you losing a noticeable amount of airflow? Or is it more effective at making sure the only air coming in isn't warmed by the engine?

Thanks.

Slick1, i dont think there are generally issues with cai's voiding warrenties. As for the other 2 questions, i would be interested in those answers as well.

Good questions. I would like to hear about the scoop also. As far as the cover, I believe all CAI's seal (either using a cover or a seal that seats against the hood when closed) to keep the hot air from the engine bay out.

1)answered already

2) First, we don't make a scoop or guarantee our intake will never injest water with an aftermarket scoop. However, the ADM scoop only directs air towards the filter. There is one foot or so of space between the duct and the filter. The water would have to change directions and travel upward to reach the filter. I would be much more concerned if the duct was coupling directly to the air box or the filter itself.

3) We do all of our metal fabrication as well as our plastic molding in-house. If we thought a lid was the best way to go, we would incorporate it in our design. Our design effectively seals to the hood which provides all of the benefits of a lid plus 2 advantages. First, we are able to maximize the space around the filter by using the hood as our lid. Obviously, if we add a lid it will be some amount lower than the hood for clearance purposes. Second, the absence of a separate lid allows us to use a larger filter. The air box area and the filter size become more significant as power levels increase.

We have designed our intake with all of the features we feel are important for good performance on a stock car as well as a Camaro putting down twice the HP as a stock one.
Anyone that has done their research realizes we have a good reputation among our customers as does C.A.I. Inductions. ADM has a solid reputation as well. All in all, I think Camaro owners are fortunate to have such a wide selection to choose from.

Slick1,
We have several dealerships that sell our products with no issues. Refer to the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act for more info.

The scoop shouldnt be an issue unless you are driving in water deeper than 8".
We incorporate the lid on all our system to help reduce IAT temps.
Thanks

I feel either one is a great choice. I do not think you will go wrong with either set up. I went Roto Fab for the price, and the look.

Plus I feel any company that goes back and tests and improves on original design shows that they care about the consumer. They are not afraid to change things to better the product.

I have the ADM scoop with a Roto-Fab box and Halltech tube and filter.

To address the scoop and water question. There is absolutely no way the scoop could suck up water. The scoop and the whatever box type intake you use will have a big disconnect between the two. The scoop allows access to more unrestricted air from idle and up. While moving, air is channeled but not rammed...if that makes sense.

IndeedSS1, when you say big disconnect between the two, does this actually make the scoop worth the money? I know it would be hard to test before and after on a dyno without a fan or something in front of it.

The ADM scoop was the one I was referring to originally. I'm guessing when you say "big disconnect" you mean that any water that did manage to shoot up that scoop like a little ramp has plenty of places to go before it would come near the filter and with what was previously stated about the fact that the water would have to inadvertently shoot up after entering that general area gives me alot more confidence.

Thanks for all the answers guys I appreciate it

Big disconnect meaning the scoop and cai aren't attached to each other. And this was in reference to the potential for sucking up water. imo It can't suck up water. Jannetty tested the C.A.I. with and without scoop. As I recall it was 4 HP. Yes it was well worth adding the scoop. If you look, you will notice that the stock washer bottle really blocks a lot of area. Imagine having that out of the way and a duct plumbed to unrestricted air.

You got it.

I will tell you that you will get more dirt/dust in the box or on the hood cover if running an open box. But this tells me how well the scoop works. My car is a 300+ mile a week, year round daily driver and has seen a lot of rain/saline sprayed roads/salt/sand/pollen. I wouldn't run without the scoop after having it on for so long.

I've still got some time before I'm sitting down to order a cai but I like to be as informed as possible before any purchase. IMO the CAI brand looks alot nicer but it will come down to numbers for sure since I need my car to be under warranty till the times up and it'll be my only performance mod till then. I'm hoping it'll add some growl to the GMPP exhaust too.

Also 4hp for the scoop isn't bad at all! Every little bit helps.
