Anyone who thinks the old school lights look better are just hating cause they don't have HID lights on their ride. they are simply one of the key features that makes the 5th gen what it is

That's just your opinion.

I ordered my car specifically without the RS pkg. It would've been much easier to buy one off the floor that had the RS already on it rather than wait to have one built. I didn't want the Halos. Althougth I know I'm in the minority I order my so that I could get it the way I wanted it......without Halos.

BTW: I haven't seen anyone hating on the Halos....I know I haven't. But it's my preference to not have them. No need to hate on those of us who made the choice not to buy them. You like them....you buy them. I don't so I didn't. Freedom of choice.

Again it's your biased opinion to say the Halos are a what makes a 5th Gen. For me it's the lines of the car and V8 power.....not the headlights. Oh yeah....you're missing one of those key features so you must be hating because you don't have enough HP.

And it's my opinion that my aftermarket HID lights blow away your OEM HID projectors. The stock projectors don't even remotely compare to my Morimoto projectors IMO.

For the most part most aftermarket parts work/look better than their stock counterparts. So yeah, your aftermarket projectors look better than the stock HID's, I'll give you that, but on the same vein, an aftermarket carbon fiber hood looks better than a stock hood too.

But if you compare the stock halo/HID headlights on the RS to the standard headlights, of course the halo's look better. They were put there to look better. That is their purpose.

Agreed...and don't dispute that. Actually the OP posted about Halos which actually has nothing to do with HID.

I just think it is ridiculas for someone to say I'm hating on Halos (which I never did anyway) just because I don't have them. I'm not trying to justify not having the Halos because my didn't happen to come that way. I like the look of the chrome Halogen housing better than the the black RS headlight and I specifically ordered my car that way if.

Even if I had to stick to the halogen bulb I still would've bought the non-RS just for the looks of the chrome housing. I prefer it over black RS housing.

90% of people that buy the 5th Gen buy the RS to get the Halos because that's what they like but there are still the 10% of us out that that prefer the chrome housing....that's all I'm saying.

Non-RS models make me weep when I see them with their square yellow headlights.

And hey, to each their own of course, but GM should have just made 1 look, not an
"RS" package almost everyone wants anyway... just odd. But, I suppose it makes
them more money in some way I'm sure.

I agree. BTW, your lights look awesome! I think the chrome housing look with the HID bulbs is the way to go.

I think they should have just made one look as well. Though I guess that is why GM is offering them standard now on the 2012's (or so I've read, correct me if I'm wrong).

I think why they did it is twofold: First of all, some people fear change and new things forced upon them so it helps settle the masses when they are offered a choice, no matter how small or trivial. Secondly I believe GM did make some money on the RS package (obv), but also wanted to test out the markets response to the features before making them standard.

If I installed Halos what would happen with how the switch operates & running lights etc?
I installed the HID/Halo's in my non-RS 2SS/RJT/LS3 w/the help from ottobody wiring harness. It is a simple plug and play. except wiring halo in to running light feed. (cut the amber running lights out) Halo's are my running lights. only draw back is. The non-RS halogen headlights are your daytime running lights. (unlike the RS fog lights DRL) So everytime I start my car, the HID are on. I just have to turn them off. Is now habit... And I can run with several different light configurations.

1. HID & Halo's
2. HID & Halo's & Fog lights
3. HID only
4. Halo's only
5. Fog lights only
6. Halo's & Fog lights
7. Everything off

Actually, its a very easy mod even for the novice.

Well....I definately agree to this. I shutter at seeing the yellow halogen headlights as well and I dispise the fact that GM made them the DRL. I didn't realize the headlights were the DRL on the RS before ordering my car. I probably still would've order it any way knowing that because I like the chrome housing that much. Again...just my opinion.

What I hate even more is the guys that open up their Halogen headlights to add some aftermarket Halos but don't take the time to upgrade to HID projectors.

Luckily for me there are many great members on this forum and I now have the headlights exactly the way I want. I have a set of 5000k HID projectors that work better than I could've expected and I also have a quality built plug-n-play harness that got rid of my DRL altogether and makes my foglights automatically come on with my headlights.

Every time I see someone with the stock Halogen bulbs I try to show them the light....literally. It's not a hard or expensive upgrade at all. I wish more people with the Halogen lights would ride in my car at night. They would throw rocks at those Halogen bulbs.

All that being said this post was originated about Halos...not HID lights. I hate the halogen bulbs but like the chrome halogen housings. To me I've now got the best of both worlds.

Halos, no question for me.

Btw, if you want your RS DRLs and halos on all the time, you can make your own harness at home depot for about two bucks. It's just 6" of wire and two t-taps per side. After ordering mine with my plasma p13w's and accidentally breaking one, I just made my own. Took less than 5 minutes.

Not to jack this thread but to all you guys converting from Halogens over to Halos, if you want to get rid of your DRL I know a guy that can make you a great plug-n-play harness. I'm sure he could make it so that your Halos are your DRL as well.
