Automatic transmission takes all the fun from owning a 6.2L engine. It's the whole concept of "controlling" your car.
1. Yes you can, put it in Sport and use the paddles. You can rev it right to the redline and let it scream all you want.

2. At a red light? Put it in Neutral and rev it up.

3. See #1

4. See #1

The only reason you're reading this thread is because you regret not getting an automatic!!!

I invite each and every one of you stick lovers to come drive in Panama traffic with your manual cars. Once you figure out how rude people are and you have to drive as defensively as the President of the US in the Mid East, you will understand.

Wife put it this way. We can end up replacing a clutch, or just get auto (she can drive it but she murders the clutch). I though it was a well made point.

I pick my gear. Going up a hill, coming down a hill... coming up to a light about to go green... in a lower gear.

I understand knee issues; I wrecked my knee in HS. Have you ever tried driving a new manual trans car? Hydraulic Clutch is sooooo easy on the knees. Seriously, you should try it out sometime if you have the chance.

I don't understand everyone complaining about traffic. I have spent the past 14 months driving in Chicago rush hour traffic over 2 hours each way for work. I drove the Cobra all summer, and the Camaro all winter and spring. I don't get it.... Yeah, it's more involved than sitting half asleep with a coffee and a smartphone while listening to talk radio... but it keeps me engaged, awake, and it's Really, Really not that big of a deal to clutch in and out.

To each their own; but Ill never own another Auto as long as I live. Ugh, that 4T65E-HD in the GM FWD cars is the BIGGEST piece of sh!t.......

Oh, and anyone saying the auto is faster.... Im sorry, it just isnt. I raced my buddy with an auto v6... not even close. Then we switched cars... he beat me. Did the same thing at the strip with a pair of SS's. exhaust and intake. my buddy and his dad ran, switched cars, and ran. The manual always won. I just don't see it.

Automatic transmission cars are faster though.. Maybe not a stock ss vs a stock ss, but when you start talking mods... auto cars in general trample on manuals.

That's what Im talking about here. If you upgrade to a hardcore 10-second auto trans; yes. of course it'll beat a stock manual. But stock trans vs stock trans in the same car... manual will always win. no doubt. now, modded out.... yeah if you mod a manual to its ultimate build point, itll never be as efficient as a full out modded auto trans. However, when you're at that point, your replacing trans parts like flywheels and internal parts every few runs down the track.

SO. In the practical daily driver world; mod for mod the manual will always win. If the auto has a manual valve body and a tune... then to be fair you gotta get a lighter and stronger clutch, and short throw close ratio shifter.... and the manual wins.

the trans in a freakin FERRARI has been modded to all hell. like i said, a modded auto is awesome and will trounce upon a stock manual. But actually.... you're totally right. I would never get an auto ferrari.
