There's no way I could have bought an auto trans.

I've had knee surgery and have another one coming up, but I'm not in that bad a shape that I can't push in a clutch.

To each their own. For me, on a car like the Camaro there's only one way to go...manual transmission.

Shifting through the gears is part of the experience.

Wife does not do well with manual transmissions so I went auto, it is much easier to drive and if you are not racing on the track the difference is not that much to have a manual as a must.

I got the auto because it's more engaging and you don't have all the problems that people with the manual have,plus it's alot quicker and you have better resale value.

Too many clutch problems over the years. Owned 65 Corvette Stingray, 68 GTO, 70 Boss Mustang, 83 Camaro and 93 Z28, all 4 speeds and way to many problems with clutches, although they were fun to drive.

Wife can't drive a stick is my usual answer.

I'm lazy with all city driving and daily commutes is a large factor too.

An M6 would have been fun though, miss driving a stick sometimes. My brother's M6
was fun to drive, just couldn't deal with it every day.

Basically I got the auto as a compromise with my wife. She wanted the V6, I wanted the V8. She wanted the auto, I wanted the manual. We ended up with a V8 auto. See, compromise.

Autos can be fun, I know I have plenty of fun with Trans Am and it's an auto. But that's why I got the Camaro as an M6, get one of each.

Auto=Boring
Had an auto in my last vette... biggest mistake in the world. I could care less how consistant the thing runs at the track... they are not fun. I bought an auto becasue my wife could not drive a stick and then she never wanted to drive it because was afraid of crashing it. I sold it after the first year and vowed never to own an auto in a sports car again.
